Summer workwear - any idea how NOT to overheat while commuting yet not show too much flesh?

I am about to start A Proper Job. My first for many years. In June. I will be commuting 30 miles a day, on train and tube, so I will get hot and sweaty. What the hell do I wear to the office? (Have been freelance working from home so I have a few work dresses to wear to occasional meetings, but do not have the wardrobe for five days a week.)

Oh, and I am fat with bingo wings so no cap sleeves or sleeveless... (and generous bosom so need a v-neck). I like Phase 8, if that helps, but they don't seem to do anything that doesn't crackle with man-made fibres that will not be good in commuter conditions.

I always end up looking tattered and creased and sweaty in silk. Personally. Especially with the Tube. But then I generate my own kind of force-field of unkemptness in hot weather. And frequently in cold.

You're obviously not classy like me, Mother Wink I do not sweat, I glow because I am a ladee.

My worst enemies could not accuse me of being a Ladee Grin.

come and live in Scotland. We have neither the Tube nor hot weather so it's not a problem. Grin
On warm days i wear cropped trousers, or wide leg linen mix ones which flap and generate a breeze. Bare legs and flat sandals.
Short-sleeved cotton shirts or t-shirts, with one of those wee cropped cardigans. i would love to wear summery dresses but don't have the figure or the confidence. Sometimes a loose cotton skirt with tops as above.
Mitchum roll on deoderant is the BEST!! have been using it for 30 years now and it works!
Very old fashioned but i also love 4711 cologne spray as it is very cooling and fresh.

You have midges though. Lots of them!

Have you found a make of linen trousers that don't crease horribly by the time you get to work?

Have a look at Asos curve - it has been a godsend to me for smartish workwear - I am currently living in their linen mix high waisted trousers and flouncy blousey things, it goes from a size 16-26, as does Chesca - incredibly well cut and flattering suits although a bit more ££.

Entirely second the idea of cotton cardigans.

Can you change in work, ie commute in jeans/sportswear and then shower/change/do make up etc at work, so you don't have to travel in your workwear?
If not, insist they install a shower for you before you start

(I'd be happy to live somewhere where summer heatwaves are rare, though. Having grown up in Yorkshire and inheriting very pale skin means I do not do very hot weather terribly well.

Grin @ charlieandlola, you have to be a star columnist to get away with being a diva. Did you ever see Giles Coren's v. funny rant at the Times subs who dared to take an 'a' out of his copy?

linen trousers crease horribly. I have a linen mix pair from Next that are ok - not sure what the mix is mind you, but it seems to work
