Can you recommend an AMAZING hair conditioner?

My hair is soooo dry with lots of split ends, not surprising as I use straighteners and the Big Hair styler every time I dry it. Am booked in for a trim next week, but want to make sure it remains in good condition afterwards. What do you all recommend - I already use the Moroccan oil before styling, but what are the best intensive conditioners? Do the expensive ones really work? I'm thinking Aveda, Phillip Kingsley, etc...

Well, my dd has long, thick hair which she straightens and also she swims about 6 hours a week, so her hair coud be a disaster. But it is lovely, glossy and healthy and she swears by Tresemme. Her friends say her hair looks and smells (?!) like the sun Grin

posey · 04/05/2011 22:19

Oh and she also uses Tresemme heat protection spray before she uses the straighteners.

varyingdegreesofdeafness · 04/05/2011 22:21

Also, whatever conditioner you do use, once a week after you have wshed your hair and it is nearly dry, rub a glob of conditioner in it and leave it overnight, same as an intesive mask. Or if that sounds too odd, rub in conditioner and pop plastic bag over hair (not head entirely! Grin) for about 15 min as heat helps it be more effective...

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:21

Thanks Posey - Tresemme is what I normally use! :) I think it's good for the price, but just wondering if there's any miracle product I should be trying instead.

Ojon. Tis brilliant. A bit expensive - I got mine with Christmas vouchers - but my hair has behaved itself so far this year. And the leaflet is wonderfully poncy - something like 'ojon means the tribe with beautiful hair' Grin

desperatelyseekingsnoozes · 04/05/2011 22:23

redken all soft.

follyfoot · 04/05/2011 22:23

For brilliant conditioning, I find the stuff that comes with hair dye the best. You can buy it separately now, its called 'Nice 'n Easy Colour Seal Gloss'. Worth a try?

PerAr6ua · 04/05/2011 22:24

Re tresemme I find the silicon based stuff actually works against my hair by stopping it sogging up the moisture it needs. Just a thought.

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:27

Perar6ua - where do you get Ojon - can you get it online, and how much is it?

Folly oooh, I've always thought that too about the stuff you get with hair dye - good to hear it can be bought separately now.

Joico - it is fabulous. I use the intensive conditioning treatment every time I wash my hair - so every 2/3 days.

I have always had dry hair, and now I have amazingly soft, bouncy, fabulous hair. I don't need to straighten it any longer, I just blow dry it with a round brush and it holds the style for 2 days. I wish I had discovered it years ago.

posey · 04/05/2011 22:29

Funny that re Tresemme. I really don't like it on my hair but dd does!

Moodykat · 04/05/2011 22:30

Redken Extreme is the one I used a couple of years ago when my hair had been killed by dying and generally mistreating it.

I used these three products - the Anti Snap smells bloody lovely!

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:31

(Adds Joico to list - I want bouncy hair!)

on DS hair we use herbal essence - works fab on his very fine, very long "kinky" hair

Moodykat · 04/05/2011 22:32

BTW - am not saying to buy it from that place, that was just the first google result!

goodegg · 04/05/2011 22:32

Kerastase Masquintense. I treat my hair badly - highlights, straighten it every day, and it saves my hair life from falling apart. I use the one for fine hair, you can get it for thick too. £20 for 200ml from hairdressers but I get a massive 600?ml pot off EBay for £40 ish.

goodegg · 04/05/2011 22:33

Oh and it lasts yonks as you don't need much. It's basically the same as a keratin treatment you pay tons for at a hairdresser.

ComeAlongPond · 04/05/2011 22:35

Watching with interest - my hair is in awful condition from a bad dye job at a student hair dressers and I want it back to it's soft loveliness!

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:38

Oooohhh, I'm getting product excitement!! Thanks ladies - will investigate all of these!

Ojon I got from John Lewis, so should be online too. Think it was about £15, so not ruinous. Kerastase sounds good though.

MissFoodie · 05/05/2011 10:11

Gielly Green

whoneedssleepanyway · 05/05/2011 10:45

Morroccan hair oil has transformed my hair Smile

HeavyHeidi · 05/05/2011 12:25

Kerastase Nutritive range - I would recommend the whole set including mask and leave-in conditioner.

Granard · 05/05/2011 14:34

Living Proof hair products (Space NK) are fab.
