Unemployed and appointment at recruitment agency

Hi

I was made redundant three weeks ago and have appointment at recruitment agency tomorrow.

My question is what do I wear?

I would work in financial services.

So do I go smart casual? or wear what I would normally wear for work?

Help - I want to give the right impression but saying that I am unemployed (and the agency knows this), I sometimes think that smart casual (Jeans, heels, blazer) wouldn't be so bad.

TIA

Treat it like you would a job interview - suit, heels, the works. They will write very detailed notes about you/your appearance (used to work for a recruitment consultant which is how I know) so you need to make a good impression. If you're looking for a job that will involve your wearing a suit, then they need to know that you can pull off that look. I'd only wear jeans/blazer if I was going to meet with a more 'creative' agency, or meeting with an agency that already knew me well. They're more likely to put you forward for things if they think you look presentable.

Thanks. Knew I had to get the suit out but just wanted some back up on that decision.

Agree - Keep make-up and accessories minimal too!
