I had pits and bik line done about 10 years ago. time consuming. expensive. Fucking hurt. brilliant. not touched them since. Probably better technology and less expensive now.

Get a test patch done. I wish I had, as after 12 painful sessions (at a high end clinic) it looks rubbish still.

ZZMum · 03/05/2011 17:11

I have had a couple of sessions - cheap via Groupon - and it does not hurt a bit and have seen a drastic reduction - so I am impressed so far - apparently will take a couple more for underarms to be totally done - but as it only cost £100, not overly worried if it does not work perfectly ..

Ta, will give it a try , thanks for the advice about patch test - i seem to recall reading thta it worked best on darker haired people?

I'm going to do this in the autumn - from what I've read, they advocate avoiding sun exposure for a few weeks after treatment, and treatments are 4-6 weeks apart, so think it'll all be much easier to deal with when the weather isn't so nice.

Is lasering the same as IPL? I've also seen a groupon offer (for IPL) and am mightily tempted.

niccibabe · 03/05/2011 23:54

If you get underarms done does it keep hurting after the treatment? Not sure I could stand agony underarms.

I have sensitive easily sun-burned skin, so I have concerns. However, the Groupon offers are tempting.

The 2 girls I know who have had laser hair removal have had legs and forearms done - both said to get it done at a place where they have cooling along with the laser. Also, the girl who had her forearms done, got lots of staring at her very red arms when she forgot to take a cardigan to cover up after a treatment.

I tried it and it hurt loads

Don't know re laser, but I bought an IPL machine earlier this year.

It is the best thing I have ever bought!

I am really hairy - I get my lower legs waxed and they are growing back within 3 days. If I shave them they don't last a day without getting stubbly.

Anyhoo - thanks to my IPL machine, I have got completely hair free lower legs (and feet Blush) & armpits! My bikini area is almost gone too.

I've just been on hols for 2.5 weeks and it was the first time ever that I could just forget about hairiness!

expatinscotland · 04/05/2011 00:08

smarty, would you mind sharing which machine you bought?

that's fabby!

i'd love one!

smartyparts · 04/05/2011 00:35

Here

I see it's now £50 cheaper than when I bought it. But it's also on Amazon (under Rio brand which is the same). I saw it on there the other day for £199, but today it's £350?!

I am normally a cynic about at home versions of salon machines but this really works! Am pale skinned with dark hair, which it works best on, apparently.

It does require a commitment to sitting slack jawed in front of the TV whilst you do it - it takes a while.
