Ooh I'm interested in this too. I have no idea which whitening method is the best. My teeth are actually quite white but I have very white skin which makes them look more cream.

brookeslay · 03/05/2011 11:57

You can buy them on ebay i want to try too anyone with non harsh whitening care to share

confuseddotcodotuk · 03/05/2011 11:59

Marking my place :) I have one tooth in particular with had brown blotches on it, just the one! the rest could do with a few shades but nothing dramatic!

Hi - my SIL uses the white strips (professional effect ones) and they are amazing, her teeth are so white.
I bought some but accidentally got the sensitive/gentle ones (pink stripe on the pack) and don't seem to be as good.
You need to commit to wearing them for 30mins a day until you reach the level of whiteness you like, and then you just pop them in every now and again according to her. They did make my teeth ever so slightly sensitive but just for a while after using.

Buggar, I got my friend to bring me back the sensitive teeth ones!! damn Sad. It says on the box to wear them for only five minutes?

I havent started as I thought I better go to proper dentist first and get them cleaned and then I will give them a good go.

Its hard when you are a coffee addict though!

LolaAnn · 03/05/2011 12:17

Yeah I have the same ones. I have no idea why it says only 5 mins when all the other ones say half an hour. I have resorted to wearing mine for 30 mins and my teeth aren't falling out or anything yet. I get mine off eBay but sometimes struggle to find them really cheap.

kitkatya · 03/05/2011 12:22

how much did you pay out of curiousity? Mine were $32.99 but Im not convinced they are much cheaper buying them in the US. Im real dissappointed now, I was excited to start using them!

DonaAna · 03/05/2011 15:43

Whitestrips rule - they are the best thing ever. I use them regularly (both originals and US drugstore brands, haven't noticed a difference), but I find I need to use a whitening toothpaste daily in the meantime to keep my teeth white (I drink tea and red wine). I love Arm & Hammer Advanced White - cheap and really effective.

Highlander · 03/05/2011 15:45

I use them every year. Get the Premium/Professional effects.

If you decide to use them X2 daily and your teeth nip, cut it back to X1 daily.

PlopPlopPing · 04/05/2011 12:59

Can someone tell me about these? How do they work? How do you use them? How long does it last/compare to other treatments and is it safe etc?
Thanks!

Jaspants · 04/05/2011 14:04

So can you only buy the heavy duty ones from the US? My teeth are very yellow - I don't smoke or drink red wine - its v unfair

superv1xen · 04/05/2011 18:51

what shops in the US can you buy them?

muriel76 · 04/05/2011 18:55

My friend bought me the heavy duty US ones back from a visit there - she has used them and her teeth look liked they had been painted with emulsion, they look sooo good!

However after 6 or so days of one at night and one in the morning I had to stop, they were so painful! Imagine sensitive teeth when you have a cold drink all over every tooth and times it by 100. It woke me up in the night it hurt so much, I couldn't bear it.

I still want my friend's white teeth tho! Give it time and I will think 'oh it can't have been that bad....' and try again!!

Spidermama · 04/05/2011 18:58

I used these on my tea and wine stained teeth. I used one pack (so did the procedure about three or four times) and it was fantastic! That was a year ago and my teeth still look nice and white.

I'm going to get some for DH. I bought mine online.

Bellebelle · 04/05/2011 21:49

I had my teeth whitened about 6 years ago by a dentist with custom made trays which I filled with a hydrogen peroxide gel and then wore in bed each night. I think that the strips work in much the same way, it's the dentine (don't know if that's spelt correctly) in the centre of your teeth which needs to be whitened so your tooth enamel becomes slightly more porous while you're whitening them as the solution goes through the tooth, hence the teeth can become more sensitive. I was advised that if sensitivity was an issue, which it was, that I could cut back to every two days which worked. Meant that the whitening took longer but the final outcome was just as good. My teeth are still really white and I've never had to repeat the treatment.

QuackQuackBoing · 05/05/2011 11:19

Bellebelle How much did that cost? Do you know what the treatment was called?
