I havent got my ears pierced - shall I?

Just saw a photo of someone I know and thought how nicely her earrings finished off her outfit. Never got mine done due to worries about keyloid (sp?!) Tissue build-up as I have a tendency to scar. I vaguely remember (pinchy painful) clip ons which presumably don't exist any more?! I do have quite a fat face/jaw, not a great profile, thick neck and not attractive ears so wouldn't want to draw attention to these areas iyswim? Is ear-piercing for me??

I wouldn't bother. I fought and fought to get my ears pierced. Do I wear earrings - nope. Because they're faffy and tend to hurt me after a couple of hours. Some people have very elegant necks and suit earings to a tee. I don't and don't want to draw attention to my double chin.

Also if you have a tendency to develop keloid scars I definitely wouldn't.

Shit, I have a fat face, double chin etc. Am I not supposed to wear bloody earrings now?

IAmRubyLennox · 03/05/2011 17:42

If you've lasted this long without, then I wouldn't bother, tbh.

Got mine done when I was 16 or 17, and I probably wear earrings once a month. They're a faff, most of them irritate my ears, and DH thinks its highly amusing to adopt a husky Cockney accent and growl 'I love yer, Paaaaat' if I wear anything more ornate than a plain stud.

I had mine done at 26 and have never regretted it. dangly ones make your neck look a little bit longer IMHO

JeremyVile · 03/05/2011 17:47

Definitely! I didn't pierce mine til I was 30 and I wear earrings every day now.
Really easy way to add a bit of interest (suits me better than lipstick).

Got mine done a few years ago (am 45) and I like it though now only wear earrings a couple of times a week. Was a pain for the 1st 6 weeks though and I still find the earring in my right ear difficult to put in as it was pierced on a slight angle Hmm

Had mine done at 14 and have worn them every day since without any problems (other than if I wear cheap nickel jewellery and get a horrid and almost instant reaction). I don't wear them at night as the stem really digs in!

I'm wearing 5mm ball shaped silver studs today which look classic and go with everything. I'd say go for it!

I've had mine pierced for years for years. ..I always were earrings,I couldn't care less about my double chin

I got mine done at 16 with a gun in Claire's (Bow Bangles as it was then), they never healed and were inflamed all the time despite cleaning them very carefully. I let them heal up at 20 when I'd got married. I had mine done again at 30 but this time I went to a piercing place and had them done with a needle, they have healed fine and I love being able to wear earrings, I have no regrets about that second attempt.

If you tend to get keloids, then I wouldn't, as you will likely get keloid scars on your ears.

Peruvian Connection sometimes do clip earrings, if you feel like you are missing out. You can have lots of fun with other accessories instead, though.

I got my ears pierced as a teenager but nowadays I wear the same pair of earrings every single day, so if I hadn't already done it I don't think I would do it again. (Same goes for my nose piercing).
