What might my colours be?

I keep hearing about colours, and just seen that Kettlewell website but I can't afford to get my colours done...

What might they be??

I have mid brown hair (looks quite red in the sun otherwise rather ordinary brown)

Very pale (percelain(sp?) skin) with freckles - never tan.

Grey/ blue eyes.

What might I be ?? (warm/ cool/ spring, summer, autumn, winter???)

Thanks Grin

Thanks.. It seams so straight forward, but it's giving me a head-ache!! I think I am in one of those cross- over catagories!

Have a look on the kettlewell website, the models they use are examples of the 'seasons'. You sound like a spring or an autumn. They suit more blended muted colours (autumn deeper, spring lighter and brighter) whereas winter and summer suit bold contrasting colours. It's actually worthwhile having it done properly as they identify your WOW colours within the palate. For example the girl I had mine done with was a 'blue spring', she really looked lovely in all the shades of blue and like death in anything with a yellow base even they were technically in her 'season'..

fergoose · 01/05/2011 10:04

you sound just like me. I had mine done and I am an autumn.

ellangirl · 01/05/2011 10:24

I'd save up, or get it as a present. House of Colour is great. The basic categories are cool or warm- do you suit gold jewellery (warm- autumn or spring) or silver (cool- summer or winter). Once you're sure about that you can at least narrow down the colours a bit- i.e. as a summer i should avoid oranges, khakis etc as they are best suited to autumn, and bright yellows, greens and corals for example, as they are best for spring....

moonstorm · 01/05/2011 11:36

I want to be an Autumn!

You see, I have a lot of silver, but think gold might actually be better... My weddfing ring is gold.

So you have a lot of Autumn coloured clothes already then? If you think they suit you, then why not just be an Autumn Grin. Kettlewell is really good for colour inspiration. Try putting colours together in different ways too. Scarves in the right colours are a good way to pull everything together (if they're your thing). Technically according to House of Colour you should never wear black again!

cabbageroses · 01/05/2011 14:58

Very very hard to advise you here. Basic question is- do you look best i n white or cream, near your face?

cream= warm skin tones, and white= cool.

A good book is colour me confident- usualy on Ebay for £not a lot.

I had my colours done and was told never to weat black or dark colours near my face.

I think you migh tlook washed out in very bright colours, but turquoises might suit you.

moonstorm · 01/05/2011 23:47

I've been looking. I think I've been getting things wrong. For example, I've been wearing a blue top (I have a lot of blue) but I think the top's 'wearing me' after readingstuff. I've never thought this before, but I really think it is... I'm on maternity leave, so can't afford much (it would be a going back to work gift).

I'm going to look for that book.

See I always buy white, as I imagine it suits me better. I know deep reds suit...

OP posts:
moonstorm · 01/05/2011 23:50

Also - I think I'm 'cool', but more autumny - it doesn't match!!! My pale skin has a lot of red in - cheeks. joints/ knuckles etc IYSWIM

There is white and red in every season, it just depends which shade. Yellow based colours suit spring/autumn, blue based colours suits summer and winter. Pure white looks best on winter colourings only. The different companies have different ways of working things out, so it might be confusing trying to compare. It's not as easy as looking at hair or eye colour, except in a few obvious cases. I know house of colour now do some kind of paying in installments for their colour analysis session too, if you're interested. It is a lot of money, but personally I found it so useful, so I don't waste money on things that just don't look right on me. I promise I don't work for them by the way! The good thing about using the right colours is it all goes together as well, so it's easier to get dressed! Doesn't mean you can't follow fashions either, it's relatively easy to find the right colours IME.

I think my hair is warm (very red in sublight, although generally a mid brown), but my skin is cool (burns easily, very pale, freckles red cheeks). Could I be a mix between summer and autumn?

I think I will save to get my colours done, but it will take a while.

I don't think I would dare put a photo on, I like my anonymity Wink Grin

Yes, I do (but even more beautiful Hmm)

It doesn't help that so may celebrities colour their hair. I've been erring towards summer except my hair has so much red to it.

Thank you for the time you are giving to me thread!

But her eyes are very blue, mine are greyer and less striking.

I am a summer, and my hair has red undertones...

cabbageroses · 02/05/2011 21:39

I am a light spring- or a cool summer. hair is naturally red/blonde ( goldy colour) but now faded and highlighted a goldy blonde.
Eyes are slate green.
Skin is pale- palest foundation shades or the next one up.

I look crap in anything muddy or yellow tones- suit blue-greens really well but not moss or olive greens.
Look rubbish in beige and pale pink but can do corals and candy pink.

Deffo suit pale grey , but not black near face.

I would deffo advise you to put a yellow-green next to your face and a blue-green. which makes you look alive and which makes you look ill or tired?

If you suit olive tones you will be warm- if not then a cool.

moonstorm · 02/05/2011 22:41

Right soft summer soundds really close after searching the net. I'm going to explore these colours inteh shops and try some on - but I am going to book a colour session. Thank you so much for your help!!

Check out clear spring. It's an inbetweener! You can wear navy, black and grey yet suit some warmer shades too like coral based pinks and chartreuse.
