Eyelash tinting at home

I have very fair eyelashes and look lots better when I get them tinted. I've been wondering about trying the 30 day mascara kits you can get to do this yourself. Has anyone tried these? Am I going to blind myself? It always stings when I get it done professionally so I can't help feeling I may as well just do it at home and save some money.

I've got one and it's fine, doesn't sting (and I have super sensitive eyes that sting with just some eye make up removers!)- make sure you ge the Blue Black one, as it's better than just normal Black (dont worry it's not blue!)

it takes a couple of goes but I think it's worth it given the cost of tinting at the salon! and worth it even if you just do your top lashes.

Kits come with a paper thing you're supposed to put under your eyes but I dont bother, I have fair skin and hair, I simply mix a bit up and apply like mascara, but a lot more obv, then close eyes, lie down for 10 mins (or however long it takes)

put it this way, you've only got £7 to lose for trying it!

I think it's fairly foolproof. Stings a little but no more than if you get it done professionally. I always do my brows at the same time.

Last few times I hve done this it hasn't worked
results much better in salon ,am going to get mine permed as well next time

I've used it regularly for years, I do my brows too with dark brown. I wipe over my lashes well with with a facial wipe to make sure they are clean, then leave it leave it a good few hours before applying - then it won't sting.

I've used it for years (also on very blonde eyebrows) and actually think it's better than salon as I don't think they leave it on for long enough. Never had any stingyness and I have quite sensitive eyes/suffer with hayfever etc.

it is the same thing - just that someone else applies in a salon. The main difference with a beautician doing it is that they are able to look properly and make sure the dye gets down to the roots. Doing it yourself is tricky but do able. Using an old cleaned up mascara wand is a good way to apply. Paper things are impossible to put on yourself- put on a bit of vaseline under your lower lashes. Also there is not much point dong lashes with anything other than blue black.

Thanks everyone, I'll give it a try then.

Could someone please link to the stuff you use at home as I was going to book in to have mine done this week, but after reading this thread I'd like to try the DIY stuff first! Grin Thanks!

castlesintheair · 01/05/2011 09:36

This is the stuff I have been using for years colorsport

I use dark brown - I am very fair but like to have quite dark brows/lashes and it works well for me.

DuchessEm · 01/05/2011 17:23

Thanks for that link, Castlesintheair! Will give it a try! Smile

MissFoodie · 01/05/2011 19:52

your thread reminded me to do mine! I use Eyelure, just did them and look fine - obv not the same as mascara, but def better than nothing!
