removing makeup - best thing?

So I have been using make up removing wipes for a while now, just the johnsons ones or whatever is on offer and I'm just not overly impressed - seem to leave skin dry and even with a good moistersing routine Hmm

So I'm just interested how you all do it [cwink] I'm not a fan of the cleansing creme stuff that is used with cotton wool because the tiny furry bits of the cotton wool always irritate my eyes.

Can you girls recommend me something? Nice and cheap would be ideal [csmile]

Although i am a huge fan of dermalogica products, i love botanics eye make up remover. Always dampen the cotton wool and hey presto.

Waitrose Pure (own brand) eye makeup remover.....also their Pure face wash. Gets it all off....cheaply.

I use pure lochside organic cleansing oil, very delicate but effective even on super strength water proof mascara!

southeastastra · 29/04/2011 19:42

definitely a facial wash - i like the bodyshop passionfuit one, gets all make up off

Best thing I have tried which removes waterproof mascara with ease is Bifacil from Lancome. Is £20 though.

Oil any really, I use sunflower and castor and a hot cloth.

Grumpla · 29/04/2011 20:03

Eh? How does that work? Do you put the oil on first and then take it off with the cloth, or put the oil on the cloth and wipe with that?

otchayaniye · 29/04/2011 20:07

rub face with mix of oil (I use 25 pct castor and normal boggo sunflower oil as the other 75 pct). Massage in. Flannel in hot water, ring out, gently remove, wash and ring out and repeat. Can finish off with cold water.

I am friends with a top dermatologist and this is what he recommends for dry skin and getting waterproof makeup up. Anything else in cleansers claiming to do 'this' or 'that' is marketing. It is a means to remove a substance and all your looking for is something that will a) work and b) not irritate or strip the skin.

Castor oil doesn't suit everyone though. Jojoba is good for sensitive skin.

otchayaniye · 29/04/2011 20:07

all you're (yikes) looking for, I mean.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/04/2011 20:08

Lush Ultrabland, which is oil based and has a thick texture, massage it in with your fingers and wipe it off with cotton wool soaked in either water or Lush Eau Roma toner, which is very gentle. Shifts anything and suite my very sensitive skin.

i use normal baby wipes, they remove everything easily
