Cleavage - is it a yes or a no?

I am going to a wedding evening reception this weekend in a nice hotel. There will be buffet and dancing.

I will be wearing this dress which I bought in the winter and wore at various Christmas work and family dos with a camisole and a bolero cardi.

I have just been trying my various bras with the dress, without the camisole as a) it's spring, b) my workmates won't be there, c) my mum won't be there making a cat's bum mouth at me.

One of my bras gives me a dynamite cleavage with this dress. I am a size 12, 30FF norks. Aged 46 (was going to put [cblush] but realise my age is nothing to be ashamed of and I can't change it anyway).

Should I go for it? Or am I too old? (Could be a case of "nice norks, shame about the face".)

I also have the choice of a more meh bra or could do the old camisole thing.

DH will be slavering if I do the cleavage thing but OTOH I don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention (ie slavering from anyone else).

So cleavage - is it a yes or a no?

It's vvvv beautiful, & go for the cleavage!

YankNCock · 28/04/2011 21:27

I have a rule I've plucked out of the air that says nobody should show more than two inches of cleavage.

I think I came up with that number after seeing a full five inches of old lady cleavage one day. Two seems like enough for anyone.

cyb · 28/04/2011 21:30

Oh go for it

As long as said cleavage is not crepey

cruelladepoppins · 28/04/2011 21:40

That's what's worring me cyb - it's not crepey at all, it may be my best feature! It really looks better than it has a right to!

get them out

pointydog · 28/04/2011 21:43

Nice dress. If they're your best feature, show em.

RamblingRosa · 28/04/2011 21:45

Nice frock. I would wear without camisole or bolero. I wouldn't go for a really push up type bra though. Subtle cleavage. Not up by your ears cleavage! You'll look great.

foxinsocks · 28/04/2011 21:49

I don't think it matters even if it was crepey :-)

If you feel confident wearing it, then great!

Jaspants · 28/04/2011 21:55

DH says cleavage is always a yes

dexter73 · 28/04/2011 22:29

Go for the cleavage!

fartingfran · 28/04/2011 22:33

It's not like it's a really short dress. I wouldn't even consider wearing a camisole with it!

Get 'em out, get 'em out!

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/04/2011 22:34

I don't know - am just not a fan of big cleavages personally - its just a bit too obvious.

And I suffer from this as am short so all dresses seem very low-cut on me.

So I'd perhaps do cleavage but not in a massively push-up bra - after all you don't want to look like you've got Right Said Fred down your dress do you?

TimeForMeIsFree · 28/04/2011 23:20

That dress is beautiful!! I think you could show your cleavage and still look good. Go for it!

BitOfFun · 28/04/2011 23:25

Yes, go for it.

EggyAllenPoe · 28/04/2011 23:31

Yes to cleavage. it isn't the kind fo dressyou would be in danger of falling out of, and not actually that much flesh will be on display all told.

and with 30FFs it would be wrong not to.

thenightsky · 28/04/2011 23:32

That is a lovely dress... it NEEDS cleavage.

cece · 28/04/2011 23:35

Show the cleavage - I am resorting to it more and more as I zoom through my 40s... everything else has gone to pot!

thenightsky · 28/04/2011 23:35

bolleaux... its sold out in my size grrrr

Mahraih · 28/04/2011 23:40

Get them out!

Having been flat as a pancake (small 32B) and rather larger (32EE, thank you breastfeeding), it is lovely to have a bust, so make the most of it!

Jemimapuddleduk · 28/04/2011 23:42

That dress needs the cleavage, don't be shy!
Enjoy the do.
I love phase eight!

RockChick1984 · 28/04/2011 23:43

Loving the idea of Right Said Fred cleavage!!!

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 28/04/2011 23:45

Too much cleavage can be uncomfortable for those who are stuck staring at it, but I think that dress looks lovely and a cami might spoil the effect so go for it Smile

WhatsWrongWithYou · 28/04/2011 23:47

Speaking as a 30G, I can confidently state that if you try and cover them up you won 't make the best of either your lovely figure or the lovely dress.

A camisole would drag the whole thing away from glamorous evening do to parents' evening. As would a drab bra.

Bohica · 28/04/2011 23:50

OH do, go on, get them out

foxinthewoods · 29/04/2011 00:01

If you've got it, flaunt it I say
