Thick hair trouble

My almost 13 year old dd has long and incredibly thick hair which she hates. Are there any miracle products that would make it appear less thick and "puffy"? Thanks x

blow drying it straight and then using straighteners are the only things that slim down my thick hair.

some serum applied when soaking wet after washing might break up the puffiness a bit

Is it curly and she's brushing it out?

theagedparent · 28/04/2011 18:52

ruddynorah, yes it is quite curly. She just brushes it and ties it back because she thinks it's so awful. She did try straighteners but it seemed to take forever to get it how she would like it.

i have thick wavy hair - had it 'measured' once and apparently i have about 1/3 more follicles than the average person Hmm

the best thing i find is get a decent cut, and i'm using L'Oreal Elvive in the pink bottles - for 'dull' hair, it's making a really big difference to how long it takes me to dry and straighten my hair.

i then use the Elvive leave in spray conditioner (red bottle) as i blow dry it with the largest round brush i can find, and sometimes straighten it afterwards, using more of the spray-in conditioner on the top layers.

this takes me around an hour, but if i'm careful (bathing with towel round dry hair etc) can last 3 days between shampoos

do you have a college nearby who teaches hairdressing? she may be able to get some tips on handling curly hair from them

Id sell my kids for thick hair Grin

brushing it will make it look thicker and puffier. She should try to comb it with a wide tooth comb when damp and keep other brushing to a minimum

Thank you for your tips, I will get her to try them all x
