Are Crocs comfortable?

For DD, not me. She's got nice leather sandals, but we'll be speding a few weeks in the countryside (by the lake) in the summer and I wanted to buy her shoes that water/mud won't destroy.

They look like they would chaff the skin- plastic against sweaty foot...Do they?

My lot love them. Either crocs or barefoot, they complain when they have to wear proper shoes

ggirl · 27/04/2011 13:28

great for kids
no chafing, easy to get on and off

winnybella · 27/04/2011 13:38

Great. Thanks. They are quite expensive, aren't they? I think I saw some for 50+ euros-seems a lot for plastic kids' shoes Hmm but if they are comfortable and will last the summer I guess they're worth it.

I haven't bought genuiine crocs for ds, I got £10 ones form market stall , perfectly adequate.
I have ordered another pair from a website for £6 but they haven't arrived yet.

bronze · 27/04/2011 13:55

Whereas I tried the fake crocs for ds2 once and they were horrible. I pay full wack now (though shop around) and they last ages (they fit for ages too)

feast your eyes! They also have the classic ones quite cheap.

deemented · 27/04/2011 14:02

If you have a sports direct near you then they sell proper crocs for a fiver a pair, and Mary Jane crocs for £2 a pair!

winnybella · 27/04/2011 14:03

Oooh, thanks, Annie. I went from there to the French site and they are much cheaper than in the shop I went to! Yay. So much choice...hmm.

Sportdirect do them for £5 down from £25 for kids sizes - and online.

I have them for me and the kids every year - just for things like the garden, walking to the local shop etc, as they are so comfy. And no, they dont get sweaty either.

Crocs rock! DD has been in them more or less since she started walking and loves them. The website is very good with much better choice than the average shop although the sizing is a bit confusing sometimes as the Dutch site (we live in cloggyland) seems to stock both EU and US sizes which overlap. The wellies - Jaunt - are also fab as they are so lightweight, I bought a pair myself and DH is gutted that they don't do men's sizes in these.

It's possible also that you can pass on Crocs to subsequent children as they don't deform in the same way as more traditional shoes? But don't quote me on that

winnybella · 27/04/2011 14:27

Oooh, they do wellies as well?

AnnieLobeseder · 27/04/2011 14:31

Oh, winny, I feel your whole world is about to change! I have wellies, furry boots, ballet pumps, canvas summer shoes, sandals.... all of them Crocs, all of them comfy. I love them so!

deemented · 27/04/2011 14:36

Winny - i'm going to get DD some crocs tomorrow and would happily pick some up or you and send them on if you like?

And yes, you can use them on subsequent children - DD wore ones last summer that DS2 was in a few years ago. And i've put them up for DS3.

winnybella · 27/04/2011 14:43

dee- thanks, you're lovely, but it seems that they have a French website so I'll be ok and I would prefer to go to the shop and try them on before ordering as not sure about DD's size Smile

Don't know about subsequent children, though

Off to look at wellies.

winnybella · 27/04/2011 14:44

Oooh, pink Jaunt wellies. OMG DD will want to wear them all the time.

winnybella · 27/04/2011 14:45

No probs - just thought i'd offer.

Oh, and you can throw them in the washing machine too!

gallicgirl · 27/04/2011 14:50

Only draw back is mud squeezes through the holes and feels a bit weird between your toes.

another vote for sport direct - we got both dd's crocs there for a tenner.

Shootingstar100 · 27/04/2011 23:20

Crocs are fab! I didn't realise how comfy they are until I tried some on 3 yrs ago. Wear them on holiday - we have a campervan - and as an indoor/outdoor slipper for going to the garden or garage. Great for camping as can be worn with socks when it gets chilly at night, so better than flip flops. Also excellent for children, especially at the beach, canoeing, cycling etc as sturdier than flip flops. I would say avoid copies as the plastic is much harder. Got ours on the internet.
