Pre-MN I didn't know these existed, now I'm saving up for either these or these?

What do you think? Are these a good buy or could I buy better quality elsewhere?

Also, does anyone know what difference pre-washed makes? Are they softer?

TIA

I'm not a fan of linen sheets, find them too scratchy. Much prefer cotton sheets, higher the 'count' the better - this is a v good price;

Thanks Missread, I've got a set similar to the JL one you linked, but from TK Maxx!

I always thought pure linen was the ultimate in bedding. Maybe I should have a feel of some before I splash out.

I love my pure linen bedding. Not sure I would like the "pre-washed" one you linked to, OP - ideally I like mine starched to within an inch of its life, but even if I can't be bothered with the ironing, it's the stiffness and coolness I like.

But it's definitely a matter of taste and I would always prefer to have a good feel Hmm of any bedlinen I was buying. I bought some mail order once and was a bit disappointed in the fabric - not the "quality" as such, it was just thinner and weedier than I was expecting.

I also love pure linen bedding. Try wallacesacks.com - I have several sets from there and they are very reasonably priced - e.g. www.wallacesacks.com/duvet-covers/spa-oval-jacquard.html

Thanks for the feedback.

melmum - I've bookmarked that site, thanks!

cruella - Can I ask where you got yours from?

Hi,
I inherited a set of linen sheets (it's nicer than it sounds) that had been up in my grandmother's attic for years in France. Apparently they were given up because linen went out of fashion and was considered more 'common' than cotton. Though I don't know how that's logical, it was what I was told at the time.
Linen is pretty scratchy (washer really well and great in summer though), but I too have been eyeing up the la redoute stuff. The codes they sent out never seem to be compatible with the linen bed linen though.
Ebay is really good for high thread count sheets.

How on earth will you iron linen sheets- the effort! You will need a powerful steam iron, or make sure you iron when damp.

Linen is scratchy. if you want luxury, John Lewis do cotton with a 1000 stitches to the sq. inch- THAT is luxury!

Hi AnnVeronica - I got my good ones years ago from a shop called "And So To Bed" in Edinburgh. In the sale! They have a website but don't seem to have any pure linen now.

The White Company do have pure linen on their website.
