done maxi dresses - but where to buy elasticated skirts?

there's several maxi dresses I like & am after getting (added to a list currently being ticked off.) But my other thought for the summer is nice long/mid lenght skirts. need to be elastic waist thou as am PG expanding but would like to wear them again after.

Any thoughts where you find nice ones on a reasonable (as many as I can get) budget?

Some maternity maxi skirts at Next.

try the beach wear section. they often have strapless dress/skirt things with a wide band of stretchy stuff.

davidtennantsmistress · 22/04/2011 20:06

will have to - popped to primarni today and well was quite disappointed - all the maxi dress sorts are strapless (my norks are far far too big to go strapless) Blush

Could you roll down the top of the dress to make a bump covering skirt?

davidtennantsmistress · 23/04/2011 08:18

oooh I like that idea, would it squish the bump?

I have invested in some vintage petticoats. They are brilliant as skirts and look fab under certain dresses. They are great for legnthening a dress that may be on the short side (hate showing my knees), the lace or frill on the bottom of a petticoat acts almost as an extra hem. It can look edgy or classic, and when i say classic i dont mean mumsy. Grin

chopstick that is bringing back memories of the 70s when my mum made me skirts and sewed broderie anglais along the hem. twas the height of fashion then!

davidtennantsmistress · 23/04/2011 09:30

lol. sounds intriguing do you mean the sort (i'm thinking my wedding one here) where it's a length from mid waist to hip then puffs out? I assume they can be dyed?

Zara have some

here

and here

Might be a bit hippyish.

davidt. Mine are all cotton (too scratchy otherwise). one of mine has a double layer but only at the hem i dont wear the 50's type that seem to come out from the hip as my clothes dont require it. Its just that some of my dresses (especially topshop ones) are a bit short and it really helps to add a hem and a bit of shape. I have a lovely vintage dress that i love love love and could no longer wear it was too short and rode up with wear if that makes sense and a black petticoat has transformed it. The dress itself has a little frill round the bottom anyway and so it fits with the look. I trawl vintage shops or look at a website called House Of Olivier.

cabbage - that's exactly what i'm looking for thanks, I quite like the summery hippy look atm. always thought zara was expensive/posh so hadn't thought to look there.
