Dress me for a Christening please

I normally wear casual and fairly funky (as opposed to girly) clothes and I have short, dark hair cut in a strong shape. I'd like a dress (but open to other suggestions) but I don't want a really girly one if you know what I mean. I've just had a baby, so wobbly tum,a size 12-14 and 5'6". Any help appreciated.

What's your budget?

Am thinking something like this

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 14:25

Or this

snowmummy · 21/04/2011 14:31

Thinking under £100 but would splash out on something I'd get a lot of wear out of. I like the All Saints one but don't like the colours for a summer Christening. Thankks tether

All saints one comes in pink too...
will keep looking.

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 14:32

Do you want plain or print?

Some drapey ones:

Topshop

Coggles]]

Warehouse

snowmummy · 21/04/2011 18:02

I like the warehouse drapey ones thanks tethers. Not so sure about the desigual one though sorry.

Any more suggestions?

Ooh I like this one. Opinions? Is it too dull?

That tropic dress is gorgeous, I think!

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 19:33

Am not keen on the shape- it's a bit 1980s BHS. Like the print though.

I like this one or this one better.

snowmummy · 21/04/2011 20:13

Oh really tethers? Am deflated now!

I like the limski one but its a bit short for me and I think the colour is a bit wishy washy.

My dh has just pointed out that spending £200 on a dress may not be such a good idea when I'm still losing weight after dc3. Perhaps he's right - doesn't happen often Shock. Maybe I should be looking at H&M

ooh, I really like the tropic print one, I saw it on here a few weeks ago and since then I keep going back to have a look!

FebreezeYourJeans · 21/04/2011 20:34

the tropic dress is gorgeous, elegant without being too girlie (has a definite quirky quota)

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 20:44

Ah, I'm outvoted Grin

Get the tropic one if you like it- I don't even know what you look like Wink

snowmummy · 21/04/2011 20:57

Don't believe it - its out of stock!

OP posts:
FebreezeYourJeans · 21/04/2011 20:58

OH NOOOOOOOO

I hate it when that happens!

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 21:33

Similar?

snowmummy · 21/04/2011 22:00

Me too, febreeze.

A bit tethers, but I don't like it as much Sad

Are you close to a branch? Perhaps you could ring round...

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 21/04/2011 22:15

I think 195 pounds for an All Saints dress is a rip off tbh, as the quality isn't usually that great.

How about www.selfridges.com/en/Womenswear/Fulfilment-jersey-dress-navy_170-2000619-18028711/ as the draping should disguise the tummy? Expensive but an investment buy!

This skirt is gorgeous irl.

Like this a lot

TethersEnd · 21/04/2011 22:18

Oh, forgot to ask what you bought in London the other day, Colonel... any of those?

LOVE that skirt...

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 21/04/2011 22:22

Only bought a bracelet after all that, Tethers! :( But was v pleased to get dd's prom dress. I didn't see the skirt in London but saw it in Brum today - it's fab, isn't it?
