soooooooooooooo if a 38DD back is too big, and a 36E is too small all round... WTF am I?!?!?!?!?!?

In the wrong shop?

Ladyegg · 20/04/2011 20:26

Go to John Lewis or House of Fraser. M&S measured me wrong many many times and I wore the wrong size and very uncomfortable bras for years until I was fitted (not measured!) at HOF! M&S said 34AA, which I didn't actually fill, but HOF said 30C!! Now wear very comfortable bras that I fill and don't have to keep pulling down all the time!!

cheepcheepchoconora · 20/04/2011 20:42

oh I know they are useless at measuring so I had an idea what I should be, read the tips on bravissmo and went off with my plan to try loads on... after the 5th size I gave up!!!

Basically I worked out I should be either a 36E or a 38DD.... figured it was more likely that the back was bigger so tried the 38 first... that was the closest to fitting right except even when it was on tightest hook it was loose and if I lifted my arms it rose up... so went down a back and up a cup and even on the loosest it was awful tights and boobs were popping out everywhere!

Could you try a 36 back, but up the cup size? So a 36F? I would never fit in a 30A/B, but 30C is tight, but comfortable IYSWIM. And if you were too look at me and my none existent boobs you would never think I was a C cup. If I were you, though I'd go into Bravissimo and get them to fit you. Save you lots of time and frustration! Grin

cheepcheepchoconora · 20/04/2011 21:00

the 36 back was far too tight iyswim 0 and thats ignoring the boob explosion

think I'll have to find one nearby won't I!

Did you try different models or just different sizes of the same one? Some models just don't work on some breasts, even when the sizing is indisputably right. Just like any item of clothing really.

Have you got s local-ish independent bra shop? They're almost always excellent IME.

cheepcheepchoconora · 20/04/2011 21:10

erm different bras but generally same type iyswim - couldn't try the same bra all the time because of m&s' stupid 'no you can't have THAT bra if you have big boobs' thing.... Angry

erm think there is a little independant one not too far away actually -might have to pop in!

Yeah, it's really annoying. Same wire in a 40A as in a 30F but no chance of finding a bra that size that size in M&S that isn't revolting IME. I think they think loads of womens breasts increase dramatically in size as they reach they're mid 60s Hmm.

seeksnewnamewithgsoh · 20/04/2011 21:19

I've read somewhere recently that if it feels too small around the back, it's most likely the right size. Even if it means you go up two or three cup sizes Confused

tbf, M&S bras fit terribly. I got measured in there for nursing bras and was told 38F Hmm They literally hung off me, and I may as well have not worn them at all. I measured myself by Bravissimo guidelines as a 36E, and generally find that a 36DD or 34E fits in the shops.

cheepcheepchoconora · 20/04/2011 21:21

it was far too small on the back though seeks - digging in, stretched tight small - and on the loosest hook too

Get fitted in M&S. I've been wearing the same Triumph ones from there for years (yes, the actual same bras...must go again soon I think). I don't think M&S are great for bras to be honest.

seeksnewnamewithgsoh · 20/04/2011 21:25

Ah, well in that case I think you're right to get to an independent shop. I've always found that they're so much better at fitting, and they also know which bras from different ranges are the same fit even if they're not the same size.

Although they tend to stock the expensive stuff which is a pain when you just want bog standard bras Smile

Pancakeflipper · 20/04/2011 21:28

Go to an independent bra shop. I did after M&S and John Lewis's had me buying widely different sized bras that still didn't feel right. From 32 E to 38B.

Trotted off to a little lingerie shop specialising in bra fittings. It was incredible. They told me my size and which brands would be best for me in that size ( apparently brands vary very slightly). Measured a 34C.

Have to say the first couple of weeks - it hurt. Felt very tight at first as my body adjusted but I felt well supported.
