Would you take new shoes back if damaged?

I have bought some tan leather gladiators from M & S this month.

Only worn them twice and just noticed the heel has a chunk of the 'pvc' covering and has peeled off to reveal a white plastic underneath.

They look rubbish now and I think for £40 this should not happen. I've only been walking around in them (nothing strenuous!).

I hate taking things back and get embarrassed but have got the receipt and am really disappointed - what do you think?

Er yes. Take back.

Yes - if you haven't got the receipt take in your bank statement. M&S were good about refunds but these days it depends on the branch you use.

Yes, of course take them back, I would

I took some brogues back to Office a few months ago as the heels had worn down after I had worn them only 4 times. Got money back no probs as not fit for purpose.

Yes. I took DD2's winter boots back after a couple of months when the zip burst. It was an independent shoe shop, and they replaced the boots with no problem.

Yes again! My colleague recently bought some black patent non leather heels from M&S Limited Collection and, after one wear, some of the patent came off, revealing the nasty white plastic of which you speak. She took them back and there was no problem - she was offered an exchange or refund

I wouldn't think twice about it, definitely take them back.

tangerinajolie · 19/04/2011 19:34

Thanks for that everyone, gave me the confidence to take them back. Just got home now - they were fine and refunded no problem.

Just got to find some replacements now!
