Honest opinions needed on this dress

This one

Saw it in store yesterday and thought it looked beautiful. But couldn't try on as had my two children with me.

Tell me what you honestly think. What kind of shape would it flatter? Would the ruffles add weight or take it off?

I think its gorgeous but I have no idea about body shapes or whether ruffles add weight or not
sorry Grin

It's gorgeous and I love the deep blue. I think it depends where the band falls, is it a waistband or more under-bust? I would like to think it could disguise a tummy nicely, but might add hips. Probably one for an apple or straight shape. A pear or hourglass might disappear amongst all the froufrou.

I love it. What's the occasion?

mandoo · 19/04/2011 07:57

Due to the nipped in band this could really flatter a fuller figure. The ruffles may add to your hips but I think this depends on the material and how well the dress has been cut. As it's Monsson you will probably find it's a great fit. Love the colour too.

Glad you all like it! I sometimes have no confidence in these things ....

Occasion would be a wedding (garden party style) in June. The colour in the flesh was more purple than it looks in the picture, but I don't know whether it was a different colour or just looked different, if that makes sense.

But I could in no way be described as a straight shape!

Would look great with nude coloured shoes.

Lovely, would be very nice for a wedding.

I think it's beautiful. I have a very similar dress in black that was Gharani Strok for Debenhams years and years ago. Hardly ever get the chance to wear it but it still looks as nice now, even though it's three children later!

The only thing that would panic me is that I know I'd look too pale and pasty to wear such a vibrant colour, but if you have your fake tanning down to a fine art, then it would look lovely.

MMQC · 19/04/2011 09:44

Thanks all, not that good at fake tanning but I'm not pale-skinned anyway!
