Are these totally hideous?

here. I want some chunky wedges for summer, but I have wide feet/bunions so need something comfortable! Also am tall enough without too much extra height. Am only in my 20s so trying not to look older, and fear these may do that! Please feel free to suggest something better if you like Grin

Not a fan of the cork sole that much but the style is quite nice

LynetteScavo · 18/04/2011 14:42

I think they would be OK if you had dainty feet...

Sparkletastic · 18/04/2011 14:42

I think they are quite nice - wouldn't go any further that that but they do look very comfy and have some style to them. I got a great pair of red Hush Puppy wedge sandals from Amazon last year. Funky and so comfy despite me wide feet and high arches. Will try and find them if they still do them...

ellangirl · 18/04/2011 14:48

Ha, no dainty feet here lynette!

To be perfectly honest, they scream OAP.

Gillybobs · 18/04/2011 14:51

Im a huge fan of CLarks wedges for summer but dont think that's their most stylish effort, I much prefer these or these

ellangirl · 18/04/2011 14:51

I'm open to better options thisismysobriquet!

ThisIsMySobriquet · 18/04/2011 14:51

Not very helpful sorry, but there are much nicer wedges out there.

ThisIsMySobriquet · 18/04/2011 14:54

What would be the maximum heel height of the wedge? What height are you?

ellangirl · 18/04/2011 14:57

I'm 5'9" already, and DH is not much taller, but it's more the issue that my feet hurt in high heels. I have a toddler as well, so I've got to be able to walk in them. I want casual wear not going out. Sorry for being difficult!

These for eg at Duo are cute and they do width-fitted shoes.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 18/04/2011 15:12

Or New Look do wider fit as well - who knew?!

ellangirl · 18/04/2011 15:15

the newlook ones are ok, but i would prefer leather. not sure about the bow on the duo ones, but thanks for your suggestions- i would never have looked there.

whitegold · 18/04/2011 15:20

I know you're worried about being able to walk in them, but I personally find wedges more easier to walk in then normal heels!

I don't really like the ones in the first picture, sorry.

A couple of alternatives:

these new look ones

office - heel is probably a bit high on these actually but just had to put them on here as I love them Smile

Havingkittens · 18/04/2011 15:41

I actually like your ones better than any of the other suggestions OP, but then I have problem feet too (the combination of suede and cork wedges are a very attractive prospect to my sore feet!). I also like 40s and 50s style - many of which can be a bit old ladyish anyway! Most of the others linked are too "modern" for my taste.

moragbellingham · 18/04/2011 17:17

these?

Eglu · 18/04/2011 17:20

Both pairs that whitegold linked to are nice, but the rest are all so old lady.

Sorry, but, well, yes! Grin I think Clarks has come a fair way recently but IMO all their wedges are still pretty grim.

Have you had a look at Marks? Some really nice ones in at the mo:
www.marksandspencer.com/Wedges-Shoes-Womens/b/591009031

I also second looking at New Look ones, I have trouble finding comfy shoes too but have a pair of their wedges from a couple of years back which are amazing!

Don't forget that t-bars on any heeled shoe make a world of difference.

ellangirl · 18/04/2011 19:55

Ok ok, so the general consensus is that they are, in fact, hideous. Shame- now I'll have to find something else to fit my deformed trotters. Will carry on looking. I know that there are nicer ones out there- I dream of being able to wear lovely shoes! My feet just won't let me though!
havingkittens I feel your pain! Where do you normally buy shoes to fit?

I have slightly wide feet and find that Clarks are too narrow. I have just bought a gorgeous pair of wedge sandals from the Shoe Tailor, they have loads of styles for wider feet.

Wyke129 · 19/04/2011 07:46

I much prefer your original suggestion to some of the others suggested. I'm now thinking of getting them myself!

ellangirl · 19/04/2011 08:01

Glad I could help wyke!

I think they look ok actually. they will also probably be comfy which is what you are looking for.
