Personal shopper at Debenhams?

Is it woth it. I'll be going to the White Rose Centre in Leeds. I need a complete wardrobe for summer (post baby - losing weight but not in old clothes yet). I have no clue where to start and don't like shopping, so thought this would be good.

Thanks!

Girl at work did this - also at White Rose Centre - and had a great time, they found her some really nice stuff and stuck to her budget. They got her stuff she said she would not have normally have looked at, but loved. They work on the basis that they'd rather get it right than you bring it back to exchange the next day.

I think it depends enormously on who you get (although reading the previous post, it looks as though the OP might be in luck at the White Rose Centre).

My SIL had used their personal shopper service before and really liked it, so we booked to take DD when we were looking for a bridesmaid's dress and accessories for her. I wasn't blown away really, the girl seemed a bit bored and couldn't really answer any questions we had about size, availability of other accessories, and so on.

If you are going to use one then ask questions when you book ie how long as she been doing this. etc. Or if BikeRunSki can get you the name of the one her colleague used then book that person and yes its a great experience and you will love it.

However I recently used a Debenhams personal shopper in the big London store and she was bxxxdy useless so much so that I felt like walking out.

Sorry, that colleague is on maternity leave at the moment, and I am on sick leave.

MrsFreedy · 18/04/2011 13:47

I wish you better

My mum did this at John Lewis, and said it was excellent.

She bought a few things there and then, but she also came away with loads of great ideas for new outfits which she applied at other shops.

She said it definitely shook her out of a rut.

Friend from work has tried Debenhams with similar results.

Thank you Mrs Freedy. It's hyperemisis. 13 weeks pg now, and was right as rain at 14 weeks with DS so I am hoping to be up and about before too long. Will be devasted if I am not! I am planning a personal shopper trip when I go back to work after next maternity leave.

moonstorm · 18/04/2011 21:30

Bikerunski I had morning sickness, hyperemesis is just unimaginable. Hope you get better soon.

I think I'll go for it - after all it's free and I don't need to buy/ can return. Hope I can take ds (6 months) along!

Thanks moonstorm lots of support on the hyperemisis thread. 2nd pg, 2nd hyperemisis, had convinced myself it would be different this time. How wrong I was. Anyway, go the personal shopping, you have nothing to lose. If DS is happy in a pushchair for a couple of hours, I think it would be OK to take him.

A friend of mine has used a personal shopper at Meadowhall a couple of times and really rates her experiences as well.

Us Yorkshire Ladies must be very well dressed!

I used one in Brighton and it was really useless. Nice lady but didn't look at the form they asked me to fill in, I told her I was looking for colour, so she found colour for me - in a bad way! Anything garish she picked up! Paid no attention to my body shape.

She said the usual personal shopper was leaving and she was 'filling in'. Really she was just a 'fetcher', just walked around the shop grabbing stuff she thought I would like and then fetching me different sizes.

I was really dissapointed.
