Browny/purple dry patches on ankle

I have very dry Browny purple dry patches on my ankle. I moisturise them but then they just look shiny Brown purpley patches. They look like a bruise but most definitely are not.
Any ideas anyone to rid me of them? They are quite unsightly.
Had these pre pregnancy but since becoming pregnant my legs are dry and kind of tough scaly looking.
I am not looking hot here ladies!
Help please!

It could be what I have that was caused by pill which is patches of melanin missing. Do you notice it more if you sit in the sun?

prolificwillybreeder · 17/04/2011 21:12

Do you mean the contraceptive pill?I haven't had that
for many years and don't get time to sit in the sun I'm afraid :(
If anything its probably less noticeable with a tan.

They are very dry the patches not flakey or anything. There doesn't even seem anything to exfoliate and when I do it makes no difference.

Does anyone else have this?

Do you have any varicose veins or lots of thread veins in the leg? If so it could be varicose eczema

Yes, I haven't taken it for over 20yrs but still have this weird patchy ankle thing?

prolificwillybreeder · 17/04/2011 21:58

Really cheekeymonkey?it could well be that then I guess. It is eczema like? I would say mine sort of is.
I don't have any varicose veins I'm aware of. I'm going to have to bring myself to see the doc aren't I? I hate going and being fobbed off :(

What have you tried to get rid of it cheekeymonkey? If you don't mind me asking?

Go and see your doctor, I agree with varicose eczema theory, it does sound like a circulation thing

cheekeymonkey · 18/04/2011 12:23

My gp just told me to keep it out of the sun because of burning but mine isn't eczema like - just patchy. Yours does sound more like it has to do with blood vessels rather than melanin

prolificwillybreeder · 18/04/2011 19:22

Right I'm off to see him tomorrow. I do have terrible circulation so this well be it.
I don't know if they can do much though?
