Trousers With NO Pockets?

woopsidaisy · 17/04/2011 09:07

This in betweeny weather means that I am wishing once more for a great pair of trousers. I have none. One pair of Levi jeans which fit great. But I would love a nice, good quality pair of trousers.
I am an hourglass shape though, and find it impossible to find trousers with no pockets on the hips.
Would prefer white/navy colour,slightly flared/bootcut.
I am a 14/16.
Can anyone help?

No suggestions but wanted to sympathise - WHY do clothes designers put extra padding (aka useless bloody pockets) at the top of thighs and around the hips and arse Confused

It's not just trousers, they do it with skirts too.

I sometimes cut them out, but then end up with embarrassing gapeage as I can't be bothered to sew the holes back up, which is probably worse I suppose.

Yes,HoB, I was thinking about sewing the pockets up,but not sure if that would look odd?

As long as you can manage to conceal the stitches as you sew them - and the fabric is strong enough to hold them - it should be fine. Lay the trousers flat and pin round the area before cutting to make sure you're not cutting too much off

And I've just bought a nice floaty cotton summer skirt, which unaccountably has pockets on each side seam - exactly positioned to enhance my saddlebag thighs (which don't need any enhancing, I can tell you). They will be being lopped off.

Actually pockets are a bit of a bugbear of mine on children's clothes too - wtf does any child under the age of about 4 need pockets for Confused They just add to the cost of producing garments and the lumpy bits make them difficult to iron (or not iron).

Clothes designers - STOP IT with the blardy pockets!!

I wear top shop skinny Baxter maternity jeans. No pockets, no visible fastenings, they look, and feel, fab with tunic tops Grin

HouseOfBamboo · 17/04/2011 11:18

Actually maternity jeans under tunics when not pg are a great idea. Not that my gut would fill them, oh no...

woopsidaisy · 17/04/2011 11:23

I have thought about that actually,as it would combat the old muffin top nicely too. Grin
But it doesn't solve my trouser problem.
I saw some on Banana Republic site, but they are a bit office-y.

Have you tried H&M?

Their things often don't have pockets. Bless their penny-pinching ways. Grin

I just get my tailor to cut out the part of the pocket that you can't see and sew the pocket shut along its edge.

White Company have some nice cropped capris, on closer inspection on web they do have pockets, but I own a pair and hadn't noticed them! I am pear of arse and they look ok I think.
