I have a couple of facial moles I would like to get removed. Has anyone had this done, can you have it done on the nhs or do you have get it done privately if so how much does it cost roughly?

I had one removed a couple of years ago. Was referred by the GP to the local hospital so didn't pay anything. The 'op' took about 15mins and was totally painless. You can barely see where it was now.

I'd put it off for ages but wish I'd had it done a long time ago

I had one removed. Was referred and done by local hospital so didn't pay. Unfortunately the Dr only sewed the top layers and not the sub layers and so whole thing split open a few days later! Was a shocking mess and scarred quite badly - but actually still better than the original mole!

I had two done privately (through BUPA) at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. The surgeon was Mr. D Crawford and he was excellent. No mark left at all.

Are we talking big protruding moles or flat ones? I have lots on my face and hate them. I used to try and cover them with concealer. I once had a dream that my mum paid for me to have them all lasered off but when I did no one recognised me Grin

Yes I have.
I had one on my lower lip which looked more like a wart- lovely- but was told it was a mole .

I could have got it done under my private insurance but had used my quota for the year on other things so had to pay- it was £500. This included the surgeon's fee ( he was a plastic surgeon), the local anaesthetic and the use of the theatre!

You can get it done more cheaply.

If you google Skin Clinics there is a chain of them across the UK and they are quite good.

I had 3 tiny stitiches in for a week and now there is no scar- nothing at all.

Do not allow a GP or any other non specialist to tackle them as they are on your face.

i have a friend who has had several removed by Adrian Richards at the Padocks Hospital near Aylesbury. He charged her £150 each time but I think that was on a bit of a deal.

Had a quote recently from a private hospital. It was going to cost over £800 but the price covered up to 3 moles and I only had one small one. I once had a mole removed by a GP and it left a scar larger than the mole.
