Hello,

I had my eyebrows waxed last night at a new salon that i've never used before. The shape was lovely but when I got home my eyebrows were really red and sore. This morning they are clearly burnt.
I'm supposed to be using this salon for a lot of beauty treatments in the next month as i'm getting married. I've been talking to someone via email about appointments and she has just mailed me to confirm some.

Would you tell her about he burning? Or just let it ride? I never complain, but i'm a bit pssd off as i've my makeup trial tomorrow and now i've bright red sore eyebrows, so sore I couldn't put any eyemake up on this morning Sad

xx

Definitely complain. Go back if you can so they can see what they've done.

You will need something to take the redness away so pop into the chemist too. Hopefully they will be better by the end of the weekend.

P.S. Try threading next time!

I would move on - this recently happened to a friend of mine and it turned out the girl wasn't a fully qualified beautian but just had trained to do eyebrows on a day course.

I would find somewhere else and someone who does know what they are doing, you don't want this on your wedding photos

Best to let salon know and discuss what happened as grazing the skin from waxing is not always the therapists fault and it is useful to find out what went wrong for you (for your sake but also the therapist.)

Possible therapist causes could be - wax too hot, skin not supported when removing, wax to cold so was too thick, skin prep not performed.

Other causes of this reaction - skin has been sensitised ie from medication, skin products such as retin a, acne treatments, roaccutane, etc, certain medical conditions or sometimes some people just find the skin on the brow bone does not suit waxing.

I use hot wax (also called non strip wax) for all face waxing as it is more gentle and does not stick to the skin like regular warm/strip wax. Try looking out for salons offering hot wax as strip wax can give that tell tell red sore eyebrow look!

Oh it's so hard to find someone good.

I've moved to live with my OH and really struggling to find a good beautician Sad

Clouds - you need to allow 6 months after roaccutane to allow skin to recover before waxing (especially facial area).

I'm worried that this all happened because i've been using a new eyecream, have stopped using it.

It's so sore, has bled a bit too Sad

Threading is the way forward! had mine done for the first time yesterday and they look great - it wasn't painful and no soreness afterwards
