Sandals for dd1 that are not pink?

Marne · 07/04/2011 12:06

I want to get dd1 some sandals but she's a tomboy and refusses pink, i don't really want her to have boy sandals as i would like her to be able to wear them with her girly summer clothes (she will wear slightly girly trousers and tops) if we got out anywhere.

She has really narrow feet that turn inwards so needs something supportive (i know not always possible with sandals), she had doodle sandals last year which fit her well but this year (looking in clarks) they all seem to be pink, also like the look of timberland sandals but again most seem to be pink.

What about some of the Crocs Sandals? -

I'm not a Crocs lover myself, but some of the Kids Sandals look good & come in various styles & colours

She had croc's last year but they gave her blisters (ended up having to carry her over the beach because she couldn't walk), i think its where here ankles turn at a weird angle.

What a shame, poor thing :(- Have you thought of dying a light coloured pair of doodles or Clarks, or brands you know she's okay with?

if you use paint brushes to apply the dye around any fiddly bits or motifs then its not so really hard & she could choose her own colour :)- it might solve the problem

My DD has narrow feet, and Camper suits her - they make lots of colours, and are also fairly unisex so you can dip into the "boy" ones as well ....

Recently bought her some Terra Plana (also suitable for narrow feet) and they are great ... come in all colours and wonders of wonders seem to be scruff proof!

Good idea.

Really she should be in shoes or boots but now she's getting older (7 going on 13) she wants to look trendy Smile, her feet a night-mare (she's waiting to see a paed about her feet and legs), i might take her to the clarks outlet shop in hope they have last years stock (as they had more colours last year) if not i will have to colour some or give in and let her have boys sandals.

Birkenstock? Dd had a red pair last year.

rockinhippy · 07/04/2011 13:27

I don't envy you,

my DD who not so long ago was all pink & fluffy, suddenly wants everything in blue green or black - preferably with skull motifs or leoapardskin -

I've no problem with her having her say, but trying to find her stuff in those is not as easy as it used to be, especially as she's long & skinny too & still wants girly styles :)

Marne · 07/04/2011 13:51

She would love skulls Grin, she's always been a tom boy but up until now i have managed to dres her in what i want her to wear ( she hasn't been bothered), now when i show her something pink she say's 'yuk, its pink, too girly' Smile.

Will have to look at Birkenstocks, is there anywhere that stocks them so she can try them on?

here's their stockist locator
We are in Italy now, so I am not sure where you can find them in the UK

Marne · 07/04/2011 18:23

Thank you, apparently there is a shop that stocks them a few miles from us, i will take her next week to try some on.

I hope you find something you like. Friend's dd has very narrow feet and has always wore Birkenstock's sandals, so I hope they fit your dd. Shopping for shoes is stressful!

Marne · 08/04/2011 20:54

Thank you so much, i took both dd's to clarks to get measured (but not buy shoes), both dd's mesaured the same size but one narrow and one wide, poped into TK max on the way home and they had one pair of Birkenstocks in a size 9 for 9.99, both dd's measured as a 10 in clarks but thought i would try them on dd2, they fit so i bought them, got them home and dd2 didn't like them (feet too wide) so tried them on dd1 and they fit perfect Grin.

Oh excellent Marne Smile

John Lewis had sandals in white, pink, blue, gold and silver.
Birkinstocks do a whole assortment of colours.
Fit Flops come in a range of colours.
Crocs are available in several colours.

How about Converse pumps instead? Orthe litle gym shoes that Decathlon do? Pumpkin Patch also have some little pump shoes in white, pink or blue. Could jazz them up a bit with ribbons instead of laces. Pumps can look girly enough for wearing with pretty outfits.
