Shift dresses and shoes..........help!!

I'm going to dig out and dust off the sewing machine, get back into sewing and am starting off with a few linen shift dresses. Thought they'd be great for work, nice and cool for the office in summer. BUT my question is.....what sort of shoes should I be wearing with them? I really only feel comfy in wedges, would this look daft? I'm 5' 2", a good size 14 with chunky-ish calves, so the dresses will be just-on-the-knee-length. What do you think? Would really appreciate some advice from people who just seem to know how to be stylish, not like me Smile thank you!!

bumping for you...

Wedges would look fine. What about kitten heels? I have chunky calves too and I swear by them? With a lowish heel they are comfy and feminie in a 60's retro sort of way.

Chunky calves here too, I wear wedges with dresses all summer.

Thank you all for your messages, I almost forgot I'd started this thread! Am off to the fabric shop on thurs to stock up on some linen for the shift dresses, and some nice flowery cottons for some summer/garden/layabout ones! Yep, will stick with the wedges I reckon...........got to be a better look than falling off heels hey?! Have never got on very well with kitten heels in the past, fall off them in a weird, wobbly way..........! Thanks again!

Wedges, platforms, round toes, peep toes, sling backs or any combination of these.
