they do knee socks in larger sizes in school uniform colours. The knee socks are proper knee socks, but they do over the knee socks as well.

As the owner of a tall secondary-age girl who had size 8 feet in Y7 but needed white knee socks for school, I can warn you that if you search the web for knee socks in larger sizes you very quickly end up at fetish and cross-dressing websites. So I was pretty pleased to find a reliable source of proper school uniform that didn't require me to buy from the more recherche end of the market.
