Anyone tried that new Estee Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint?

I went to buy my DayWear Plus tinted moisturiser and.........it's been discontinued!! No idea why....have "treated myself" to it for years. Anyway, its replacement is a one shade suits all sheet tint formula that changes to your own skin enhancing tint once applied.

Soooo expensive and don't want to buy till I've heard some reviews.

Anyone?

nope, sorry, wouldn't use Estee Lauder, can give you tips for non chemical tinted moisturiser if you're interested?

wendihouse22 · 06/04/2011 12:53

Thanks.... What's wrong with Estee? Am interested!

LOL - well, in short, I dont use anything that contains mineral oils, silicones or parabens, which hers (and most of the department store ground floor brands do!)

I would recommend Organic Pharmacy, Melvita, Inika or Lavera, they all do really nice tinted moisturisers/foundations that are skin friendly

wendihouse22 · 06/04/2011 15:23

Thanks MissFoodie

I'll have a look at those.

I bought one a couple of years ago and I would be wary.
I could only wear it the middle of summer when I had a tan - it is not a suit all colour. Even my perma-tanned Mum couldn't wear it.
Mine was grey when it came out of the tube and then supposedly matched your your skin tone.

The DayWear sheer tint release does NOT magically change to suit all skin types! What it is, is a non-tinted liquid with tiny spheres of colour. These break open as you rub the moisturiser in, thus getting darker the more you rub. Estée Lauder themselves don't say it colour-changes, this is a myth that seems to have sprung up on its own. IIRC, they claim it 'suits most skintypes'. As with all EL stuff, it is no good for my skin, it is too orangey-pink and too dark.

What about the Bobbi Brown tinted balm with SPF25.....anyone? I want to move away from foundation, albeit a lightish one.

The benefit tinted moisturizer is good, as is the oil of lay one when you are having a tight month!

wendihouse22 · 07/04/2011 09:34

Hmmm thanks.... saw that benefit one in a magazine. I'll have to get myself into a store and go try these. Where I live, there's just a small Boots and I don't do well with No 7.

I'd love to try the internet and shop organic but, you can't "play" with shades like at a store. I like to get a small sample if poss, and try it properly. Made a very expensive mistake with Lancome.....

there are a few brands that will send you samples or you can buy samples for £1?

Otherwise, depending where you live, there are stockists that have a lot of good brands you can go in and test (John Lewis stock Dr hauschka, Whole Foods stocks Inika, Lavera...)

If you're interested in anything in particular l can find out for you?

wendihouse22 · 07/04/2011 12:08

Oh, Ok..... Why do I live in "no man's land"?

Actually, we have an upmarket chemist who stocks Estee Lauder. Hence my attachment to Lauder!

Oh bugger, I use Estee Lauder DayWear Plus multiprotection tinted moisturizer and love it (shade light medium). Actually use make up very rarely and this was an evening out tube. I love it, so I am gutted. Why do they keep discontinuing products I love?? Sad

bemybebe · 07/04/2011 12:21

Do they not have a sample available where you live? Alternatively you can consider buying it online from EL and returning if you are not "entirely satisfied" (I assume it covers bad colour match or any skin issues).

This is from their website:

"Estèe Lauder UK Online Returns Policy & Procedure
We hope that you are delighted with your order. However, if for any reason you are not entirely satisfied, you may return any item in its original condition for a full refund within 14 working days from delivery."

sue52 · 07/04/2011 12:27

I' ve tried it recently and really like it. My skin is olive toned and it blends in very well, however when my fairer skinned DD1 tried it, she looked a bit orangey so try with caution.

wendihouse22 · 07/04/2011 12:36

Yes, got me a sample but, it's the weeniest amount in a little pot and I haven't been able to get it out! Not enough to form an opinion at least.

bemybebe · 07/04/2011 12:50

hmm, then maybe ordering with the appropriate return guarantee? you local shop may be offering this service also, worth asking. good luck!

moragbellingham · 07/04/2011 13:48

wendi - I have the BB moisture balm and use it fairly regularly, it's a good halfway house for this time of year.
Clinique - Almost make-up(?) is very good and am also loving the Tesco Skin Wisdom. It has the messiest packaging ever but the product is good (no SPF though).

wendihouse22 · 07/04/2011 15:25

Thanks ladies....

I've treated myself sample size of 15ml, just to see how it suits my skin. Popped droplet on back of my hand a put on my face using a light brush. Blended well, lovely scent, slightly citrus I think. Felt it blended nicely and not too dark, which I
desperately try to avoid. I usually wear clinique over the years but thought a change may be needed as in my 60s now.
