Why don't I do the big rollers in hair in morning thing more often?

This morning, wanted nice hair, didn't have time to do a full blow dry, so washed, towel dried and shoved three big rollers in (crown area), blasted with hair drier, then went about my business. later, came back and took them out - my hair has looked gaw-juss and has stayed like that all day long. (I have fine rubbish hair)

I highly recommend

I too have realllly fine hair, I lob in velcro rollers while I put my face on, give them a spray and blast with the dryer too. My (new) hairdresser recommended it when I had my longish hair cut into a short bob - it make an amazing difference for very little effort.! Wish I'd had this advice years ago!

thats what babyliss big hair does innit

higgle · 05/04/2011 18:07

I do this too, the big roller bit followed by a quick hotbrush and it looks really good.

stylenotfashion · 05/04/2011 19:18

what big rollers? With clips? explain please :)

MikeRotch · 05/04/2011 19:19

rollers better imo
i STILL cant get my right hand side done with BBH

Zembo · 05/04/2011 19:22

Agree rollers MUCH better than BBH in my opinion. Still not getting the results I want with BBH!

MikeRotch · 05/04/2011 19:23

it makes me abit floppy

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 05/04/2011 19:23

Which way round do you put the rollers in?

stylenotfashion · 05/04/2011 19:28

is it these?

Bumperlicioso · 05/04/2011 19:39

God I've had big rollers around for years meaning to do this. Is it really worth it? Recently had my very straight fine hair cut into a bob.

How much time do you have in the morning? Is this before work? I left my hair to dry naturally this weekend as an experiment - it took 4 hours to dry and looked really shit

Do you mean heated rollers?

ChupaChups · 05/04/2011 20:31

Recommend some rollers someone!

I like the sound of this...

Alouiseg · 05/04/2011 20:36

Any large Velcro rollers will do, they come in packets from Boots for about £6!

Just run them down your parting, swoosh the under sections with a bbh or whatever you use then remove the top rollers when necessary!

Warning: I stood in the road chatting to a neighbour and forgot I had them in!

cybbo · 05/04/2011 20:37

Mke what hand do you Bbh with?

MikeRotch · 05/04/2011 20:54

right

MrsMc82 · 05/04/2011 21:20

How does this make your hair look the, just all wavy and bouncy??.....

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/04/2011 22:14

I used to use rollers in my frizzy, hard to manage hair years ago before they invented straighteners and my hair was shiny and bouncy, if I recall correctly. I must get some more. I used to have different sizes though, and think I put smaller rollers in the front where I've got layers, but my hair is longer now overall, so the large ones would be fine all over I think.

What I did was dry my hair with the hairdryer, then put mousse in it (well I did say it was ages ago), then put the rollers in, spray lightly with hairspray and blast with the hairdryer. I left them in to cool while I got ready - say for half an hour or so - then removed them and voila! Swooshy hair!

clutterqueen · 05/04/2011 22:47

what does BBH mean??
And another basic - do they just stay in themselves then?
Ta

Babyliss Big Hair

AbsDuCroissant · 06/04/2011 09:06

Sorry to post and run.

Right, I have giant velcro rollers, like those linked to by style, they're regular ones, not heated. I just put three in, having the hair go over the top to the back (IYSWIM?) for the middle, and the on the sides the hair went over the top again (so the curlers were horizontal rather than vertical). Kind of how they had Britney Murphy's hair over the diet coke cans in the makeover scene from clueless. It made my hair more lifted from the roots, and when I came to use the round brush and hairdryer, it just did that lovely big end curling over stuff

I had combed through some of the Bumble and Bumble thickening spray before hand.

Have contemplated the BBH, but I spaff away too much money on beauty stuff, I thought I'd try using things I have at home for now.

Just to be clear - I have fine hair which normally dries in about 5 minutes of its own accord, so those thick of hair would need to blast for longer.

And as for them staying in - I didn't pin them (though you could), I just let the velcro do the work. But, I was just walking around at home, not doing star jumps or anything, or being picked up and twirled around (bitterly remembers elder brother picking me up and twirling me around on his shoulder when I had curlers in, one of the RARE times I was allowed curlers Angry)

Coke cans work well as they heat up with the dryer! You can use smller ones if you want.

stylenotfashion · 06/04/2011 09:17

Abs did you put them in like this.....

   I-I
   I-I
   I-I

if I was looking down at your head from the ceiling? Is that what you mean?
The middle ones go from forehead to crown, the side ones go from top of head to top of ears?

I wonder why I'm finding this so hard to get my head round lol

AbsDuCroissant · 06/04/2011 09:17

I thought they were just using those in Clueless because they were awesome but ... hm. Presumably you would need to wash them THOROUGHLY before using?
