my face looks really pale and I have dark circles under my eyes. Despite being 30 I still have the occassional spot/s. I just look really tired and haggered. Theres no glow or rosey cheeks any more that i once had in my youth. My eyes always look tired lately theres no sparkle. What should I be doing, eating, wearing. using. I need a good skin routine and makeup tricks as well as changing my diet.

I think exercise may be the key

everlong has pretty much covered it I think.

I'm pale and dark circly- I definitely don't drink enough water or exercise enough.

Cheating a bit, before the water drinking and exercise sorts me out, I've been using Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer Dry Face Mist (the fair one though!) and it does help make me a more healthy colour.
It means I can wear my ivory foundation again, as even that's too dark without!

Sleep. Sleep, and then some more sleep.

It helps so much

That concealer by Garnier - the roll on one - is good. I also like the sanctuary collagen face mask once a week, I use after a gentle exfoliator. Sadly the drinking makes me look awful, so i try and cut down - but it doesn't always work!

I say that, because I've been looking so shattered the last few weeks, lots have people have commented (I honestly must look like hell), so this weekend I slept as much as humanly possible, including a two hour afternoon nap, and I feel and look much much better.

Sounds like you need a good blusher.

What works for me: a blusher that matches my skin tone (Bourjois Rose D'Or). If I don't wear it, my mother asks whether I'm ill.

I also need a good base for blusher - my skin is not dewy anymore on it's own but I can fake it with a good heavy-duty moisturizing face cream (I've been happy with Eucerin - no breakouts), a good concealer for dark circles (Diorskin is OK but there may be better ones out there), good make-up (Diorskin Forever or Nude liquid) and and a fresh-colored lipstick (various, I currently use Chanel, Max Factor and Calvin Klein). My skin goes all blotchy and irritated if I splash it with water. So I only wash and moisturize it in the evening.

Get your colors done or wear colors you know flatter you. Take someone whose taste and eye you trust shopping with you. And wear well-fitting clothes.

Sleep optional :D

Blusher is a tired woman's friend. My sister, who is a professional make up artist, recommends highly pigmented bright pink blusher. You only need to use a little bit, blend really well and strangely enough it looks amazingly like a natural rosy glow. The first time she tried it on me I was really 'no you're not putting that colour anywhere near my face' but it worked and I am converted.
