To fringe or not to fringe? Photos on profile

Following my thread about my moonface last week I am now considering a fringe, as I think my problem is perhaps not so much the roundness of my face as the height of my forehead (what a catch I am!)

I havent had a fringe sinceI was a kid but general consensus seems to be it could minimise a high forehead.

What do you think?

Photos on profile (I think)

I went fringe at Christmas and I may never go back! I somehow managed to look 5 years younger yet more grown up all at the same time. If I'm having a scruffy day all I have to do is pull my hair into a pony tail and straighten my fringe and I look most presentable. More importantly it covers the wrinkles on my forehead very well and my hairdresser cut it longer at the sides last time so it covers my crows feet as well, it's better than botox!

Gah what is wrong with me? I triple checked as well. Its saying everyhting is set to public though?

oooh dunno. I have fringe because I have no forehead. But you have a magnificent one

How about trying a longish swept fringe?

hmc · 04/04/2011 14:30

My vote is for a whispy fringe (not too thick and heavy)

ShowOfHands · 04/04/2011 14:31

I can see them.

No idea though. I'm having my haircut in a couple of weeks for the first time in years and can't decide whether to fringe or not.

juneybean · 04/04/2011 14:31

Ooo yes a fringe to match your parting if you know what i mean, like a side ish one

WalterFlipsticks · 04/04/2011 14:31

I actually think your hair really suits your face shape as it is, but as it's not really that long, even if you hated your fringe it wouldn't take ages to grow out... I think you will never know unless you try it... I would go for it Smile

Aworryingtrend · 04/04/2011 14:35

Thanks- those photos are from the summer and I've been too lazy to get it cut growingit since then so its currently shouder length which I'm not keen on as it just 'hangs' and there's no volume there so i am definitely going shorter, just can't decide re: the fringe. Maintenace is the other issue.

my hairdresser lets me pop in between cuts and gives my fringe a trim for free. Would yours do the same?

Aworryingtrend · 04/04/2011 14:40

I'll definitely ask that, thanks for the tip Quincy. Oh i can't decide. But as Walter says even if I do get it done it wont take long to grow out.

You can cut your own fringe (don't try after you've had a couple of glasses of wine like I did) if it's a straight one - lots of how-to-guides on youtube

Go for it, if you don't like it you can always grow it out

IAmTheCookieMonster · 04/04/2011 14:41

I think a side fringe

WalterFlipsticks · 04/04/2011 14:41

Ahhhhh go aaaaan... do it! Grin

Iwantscallops · 04/04/2011 14:43

I would say fringe - a thick one. Although your hair is lovely now.

I have a thick fringe for winter only because i'm far too much of a sweaty betty to have one in the summer.

Just get the straighteners on it in the morning. It doesn't take 2 minutes.

QuincyMincemeat · 04/04/2011 14:44

DO IT! DO IT! Grin

SummerRain · 04/04/2011 14:46

I cut a fringe into my hair last year and spent the next two months growing it back out again as it was terrible! Made my face look very fat and childish.

ChippyMinton · 04/04/2011 15:01

a heavy side fringe cut to fall forward, and tapered into the sides of your bob.

this

or this

Aworryingtrend · 04/04/2011 15:14

So basically, Chippy, a hairstyle which covers my entire face, based on that last link? Grin

Can I ask Blush whats a heavy fringe and whats a wispy fringe? Could soemone link to some examples please?

wendihouse22 · 04/04/2011 15:49

No fringe.....yet. You seem to have a lovely roundish face and the photo where you have the navy blue vest top on, THAT length of bob really suits you. The other shot? Your hair's a bit longer? Not as good.

You have lovely hair.....leave it alone.

That's what I'd do.

I think you need a sweeping side fringe, and i think your hair should be a little longer than the photos. Some salon trims fringes for free, some for a couple of £s, a side fringe is less maintenance than full on bangs.

Iwantscallops · 04/04/2011 20:59
