I know that some people can't even bear to walk within ten feet of the shop door due to the slightly overwhelming scent of hundreds of products piled high on the shelves, but I personally love the place! I've been having a bit of an obsession with the Gorilla Perfumes just lately - "The Smell of Weather Turning" (minty, chamomile, bizarre but lovely) and "Imogen Rose" (a proper strong, earthy rose scent) are my new faves, along with old-standby "Vanillary" that smells so wonderfully toffee-ish that I can't stop sniffing my wrist when I wear it. They're not 100% winners - I personally think the Orange Blossom perfume just smells weird, and The Breath Of God is a little "air freshener-y" for me, but I realise everyone wears perfume in different ways.

Other Lush lovelies include Honey I Washed The Kids soap - for the same reason as Vanillary perfume! - Ocean Salt Scrub that smells like a margarita, Karma and Porridge soaps, several of the solid shampoos and Dream Cream which is lovely for dry skin. I also loved "Go Green" bodyspray but sadly it's retired and not available as a retro product on the website either - I live in hope of its return one day. Thankfully I shower more than bath so I don't bankrupt myself on the ballistics and bath melts too! I appreciate they're not cheap but I realise that a lot of the natural ingredients they use aren't cheap either. I rarely buy any other "branded" bath/hygieney type products and I like the ethics of the company as well as the just gorgeous smells.

What are other people's Lush faves and top recommendations? I'm very open into being tempted by new products...

Just a bump in case there are any Lush addicts around this evening.

I don't work for them, honest. I think the Ultrabland cleanser is like smearing melted lard across my face, and the Emotibombs are literally the same as washing money down the drain with nothing tangible to show for it. Proof I'm not being paid by them to big-up their products! Grin

Angels on Bare Skin - cleanser with a gentle exfoliant. Brill for combination skin. May seem messy if you're just used to using soap, but so worth it.

Any Lush toner - I've tried em all. I can use any, they help your moisturised so much, much further.

Celestial - Moisturiser thats vanilla-ish and almond-ish. Perfect and light for my skin. Decent price as it's fecking amazing.

It's Raining Men - shower gel that smells of Honey I Washed the Kids soap!

Dirty - I've only tried the shower gel, very fresh smelly, not too girly, dh and I might fight over this one...

Honey Trap - Lip Balm. Best. Lip. Balm. Ever.

Love Lettuce - Face Mask. Scrubby and great for combination skin, leaves my skin so soooooooft...

Squeaky Green - Shampoo bar that has managed to sort out my hideously flakey scalp where everything else has failed. Beautiful fresh scent, it does have little bits of tiny twig and whatnot in so don't panic when you spot them in the bath / shower!

American Cream - Conditioner that is super softening (it's double strength) can be left on as a hair treatment or used as normal conditioner. Smells gorgeous, the smell lingers and it's the best thing ever to wake up and smell American cream on my pillow! Grin

Vanilla Deelite - Body lotion. A little does go a long way, and it's ideal if you find other body lotions too heavy. Smells amazing. Don't put it on freshly shaved legs though, the fruitier extracts can make your skin sting!

Mange Too - Massage Bar. I use this as a body lotion, also use the Heavenilli massage bar as body lotion too (solid body lotion!)

Sugar Babe - low price sugar scrub with yummy oils and rose, keep in your bedroom and just break a quarter to a half (hell, use it all at once if you want) and leave the rest somewhere (not in the bathroom, it'll go too hard) and scrub your wet skin, after the scrub the oils will work their magic and oooh just try it you'll love it.

I won't even get started with melts, bubbles and ballistics cos we'll be here all night!

Huzzah, another Lush fan!

I've got Squeaky Green - it's lovely, similar to Go Green in scent. The shampoo bars are awesome; I only have collar-length hair and it's amazing how little you need to rub them to get enough lather for a whole head-worth.

One day I'll give in to It's Raining Men. The shower gels always seem so expensive; maybe because otherwise I buy whats on offer in Tesco and it's £1-2 for what would cost several times that in Lush. I'll have to drop hints around my birthday...

I have sniffed the Dirty body spray in the shop but it came across really quite aftershavey to me - though I've seen it described as unisex. Maybe it is worth a go then? I've only got a few drops of my Go Green left so when that goes I may have to bite the bullet!

I've only tried the chocolatey face mask and that was a bit intense for my sensitive skin. When I've next got pots spare and can bag I freebie I may try Love Lettuce!

See I dislike a lot of the ones you like. The salt scrub is too scratchy for me (it hurts!) and I never liked the honey smells much.

On the other hand I looove American Dream, it is great for fine straight hair that needs some shine and strengthening without being made to look greasy.

Also Godiva shampoo bar is the only 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner I've found that actually LOOKS like you have still used conditioner, great for days when I'm in a rush and it smells amazing all day!

Have forgotten the name of my favourite facemask (yellow one) as I only get them very occasionally as a treat.

I also love Karma and Orange Blossom perfumes, Figs and Leaves soap (reminds me of chocolate! - though I would prefer it without the bits), Happy Hippy shower gel, Miranda soap,....

Also love the baths but agree there are too many to start listing all my favourites! And I don't often get the chance for a wallow these days Envy

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/04/2011 23:12

American Cream, that should be, of course!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/04/2011 23:20

I love Ultrabland, clean it off with Eau Roma, lovely toner and smells of roses. Use that in the evening and alternate between Coal Face and Baby Face (sadly discontinued but I stockpiled) in the shower in the morning.

Helping Hands

Blue Skies and Fluffy Blue Clouds bath bar, occasionally they do a shower gel of it on retro but keep missing it.

Les Cacas- use a mixture of Marron and Brun

follyfoot · 04/04/2011 23:24

Cerydwens cauldron (or something like that), floating island, dream cream, that marilyn blonde hair stuff, bohemian soap, most of their stuff really

givemushypeasachance · 04/04/2011 23:43

MyNameIsInigoMontoya - I have found my latest pot of the Ocean Salt Scrub to be much scratchier than previously. It's like the salt particles are big jagged things that scrape and scratch rather than the previous gentle, even abrasion. I was hoping it was a one-off thing and they hadn't changed the recipe - I may have to try one more pot and if it is a new formula I'll reluctantly give it up.

Dream Cream is so lovely, as is Dream Wash. I could live in the stuff in some kind of creamy, dreamy bubble and be very happy!

Lush Buffy the Backside Slayer - fantastic exfoliator.

Emo76 · 05/04/2011 08:11

I like the "breath of fresh air" toner.

JackieNo · 05/04/2011 08:15

I've been using the Happy Hippy shower gel for years now, and I still love it. I do like the Ocean Salt scrub, but found the same problem as you with the big salt crystals - seemed to get smaller crystals under the top layer though, so maybe dig deeper? I keep trying the perfumes, but really don't get on with them, sadly.
