Lelli Kelly sizing?

Whats the sizing like with Lelli Kellys, do they come up small? and are they ok for wide feet?

Dd2 is a 9 in kickers and 9.5 in clarks so do i go for a 9 or 10?

I think you want a size 27, this is probably called a nine on the box.

A 28 is equivalent to a start-rite 10, or a clarks 10.5 and will therefor be too big. A 27 is a start-rite 9 and a bit, and therefore is about the same as a clarks 9 and three quarters.

Have I confused you yet? I have been fitting Lk's for about four years so this should all be right!! If after a while of having them they feel a bit tight, you can remove the leather insole and wear them without it. And if you are washing them, remember to take out the insole and put the shoes in pillow cases!

Phew!

If you can, go to a stockist - some styles are fantastic for wide feet but there is huge variation between styles!

Thank you Owl, that makes sense Grin, maybe i should take her to try some on before buying, i keep looking on e-bay but i don't want to fork out for a pair that dont fit. She has very wide feet so its hard to find her good shoes that look girly.

Help then, Owl! Please! What's a 12.5 in Lelli? A Start-Rite 12.5. She's a D-width and I actually like Lellis because they're one of the few dressy shoes I can get for narrow feet (esp. narrow heels).

And for those who say they're too expensive, I have to shell out a lot for shoes for this child because of her foot width, anyway.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 20:40

Unfortunately, we live in the stick and there's no stockist around here, so I have to order online.

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 20:42

Everything I said should be right, it's just if her feet are really wide, a 28 may be better, that's why it might be better going to a stockist - sorry, not being much help!!! Good luck - they are really hardwearing and still really girly!

If you get ones with flatter beading (less sticking up bits!) they survive better. You'll see what I mean when you see them yourself.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 20:45

IME, the Lelli's fit a narrow foot great. I don't know about wide ones, though.

I only discovered them on accident whilst searching - yet again - for shoes to fit a D-width with a high instep (she used to be a C, that was even worse)!

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 20:46

Expat, it should be a 31, depending on style, this is the first summer I've not been fitting them so am not sure of current styles.

If they are a bit gapey you can fit an extra insole under the LK one until the feet grow to fill the gap - doesn't affect the fit of the shoes, they are designed to be modified this way.

Hope this helps!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 20:48

Thank you so much, Owl. :)

I'm really impressed with how the Lellis have held up. DD1 is dyspraxic and quite hard on shoes, but wow! These have been great.

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 20:48

Expat, the other brand which can be good for feet like your daughter may be petasil, she may be too old for some styles but they do beautiful school shoes!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 20:49

Thanks again. It's been Kickers, Start Rite and Lelli for her so far. So £££ Sad. But otherwise, she simply can't wear the shoes/gets blisters/pain, etc. Getting her plimsoles is awful as they all seem made for wide feet except Start Rite at £11/pair (sob).

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 20:56

My dd has narrow heels so normally has to have startrite but we just found she can manage the M and S ones that are a mary jane style with a flower on. Think it might be because the strap fastens a bit higher, although they do look a bit gapey. Only £3 so may be worth a look although not sure how big they go!!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 20:57

Oh, really? Cool. YY, she's got a narrow heel as well. Fitting her is hell and it's usually Start Rite. It can't be that rare is it, to have narrow feet?

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 20:59

And nearly forgot - Ricosta winter boots - fab for skinny feet and the hardest wearing thing going. Most are totally waterproof and are favoured by podiatrists so really good for feet - do I sound like an advert??

But all three of my kids had them last winter and survived a scottish winter with the boots still looking fantastic!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 21:12

We have a Highland winter here, and she went through three pairs of boots. Sad

Cheers for that tip!

OwlMother · 03/04/2011 21:17

Ricosta

Last thing I promise. We could have sold these several times over last year - they are a repeat purchase, people buy the same style year after year, and very comfy.

Ad break over - here's hoping next winter is better!!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2011 21:23

You've saved me a bundle already.

I actually use their Child Benefit to keep them in shoes (DD2 is a size 9, also D-width) and, for DD1, her clothes cost a bomb because she is nearly 8, 4ft., 6in. tall with long legs and skinny. So it's pinafores from M&S or John Lewis and she gets through tons of tights, and jeans from GAP or H&M with adjustable waists.

It's a nightmare!
