If you have tall slim DDs, where do you get their clothes?

DD is 6.

She is in age 8 or 9 clothes for height, but she is limited in what she can wear b/c she's so slim.

She mostly wears leggings with tunics.

Skinny jeans - waists are too big, even with adjusters (if you pull them right in, there is so much bumfled up material)

Ditto skirts.

Tights are impossible too - if I buy them long enough, they are so loose they fall down.

Any shops with better sizing for this shape? I usually go to next/M&S/debenhams but it's getting frustrating and their clothes are all shit atm too

TIA

My dd aged 10 is exactly like this - tbh I find most shops pretty variable with their sizing and I haven't found any shop where their clothes always fit her e.g. I've just bought a pair of skinny trousers from Tesco which fit her perfectly with no adjustments but other styles from there completely swamp her.

Have had some success with H&M but haven't looked recently.

Re tights - just buy them big and tumble dry them - they'll soon fit Grin

doggiesayswoof · 03/04/2011 13:53

I always forget to look in H&M, thanks - and Tesco.

School uniform is from M&S - lots of adjustable waists there.

Have never been able to get school trousers and she really wants a pair.

Next used to be good for jeans, but recently they just don't fit - all weird and baggy at the crotch, and they fall down.

Summer is good - cropped trousers can be bought in a smaller size as the length doesn't matter.

Will check out gap and fat face also

No tumble drier sadly!

Next tights used to be great, then we got some after xmas for school and they were SO thin - came out in holes after a couple of wears.

Theme emerging here re Next...

La Redoute/verbaudet seems to be good for skinny (French) kids, though you may have to size up for height. Quality can be a bit hit & miss.
H & M also definately on the skinny side and usually good length
Next stuff is distinctly baggy on skinny dds

DonaAna · 03/04/2011 15:50

Second H&M (although by Scandinavian standards, it's sized for short and tubby children). Practical, durable and some of it stylish too.

La Redoute is rubbish - will never ever again buy anything from there. The children's clothes look terrible after just one wash. Unless you want your child to channel a grunge vibe....

You should go shopping in Stockholm or Copenhagen. Lots of great local brands (Danish children's outerwear is wonderfully practical - Cupcake, Ticket to Heaven, Me Too, Molo Kids) but also cheap chains like Lindex and KappAhl.

Both my dd's are tall and skinny (aged 12 and 9). I also find La Redoute very good and have bought from them for ages. The clothes are also pretty good value and different without being too grown up.

Gap jeans are good too.

i have a petite 8 year old and we get most of her clothes from pumpkin patch, they seem to fit her well, they tend to be long in the body but narrower in the width.

bigTillyMint · 03/04/2011 16:02

DD(11) is slightly below average height and slim, but with long legs. She gets alot of stuff from H&M.

AuntyJ · 03/04/2011 16:07

Have you tried George @ Asda and Matalan. Same issue with my DD, and I have even stopped looking in Next for the same reason.

I have a very slight though not particularly tall dd, and I buy in Petit Bateau, or Cyrillus. Both are lovely.

OrangeBernard · 03/04/2011 17:04

H & m or la redoute here.

LizzieBusy · 04/04/2011 08:02

What about Zara. Quality hit and miss but in my experience the jeans are good
