Can anyone recommend a good mascara please?

I have pale (invisible) eyelashes and wear mascara every day but I have never found one that I really love. I want something fairly natural looking but that covers well, isn't lumpy and doesn't flake off. Any ideas?

have you tried tinting them?

you can do your own with a product called dylash from boots and the like, but it's never as good as having them done in a salon - about £10 and lasts 6-8 weeks Smile

I have had them tinted before and it does relieve the desperate need for mascara but I do still wear mascara mosto f the time for the extra volume it gives.

I really, really recommend Yves St Laurant Everlong. If you're very pale, perhaps go for brown rather than black. It's excellent and will really lengthen lashes without clumping or sticking them together.

Lancome Definicils is v good and quite natural. Or try Clinique - they used to do a lovely, subtle one called 'Long and Pretty' but they may have renamed it.

Maybelline Lash by Lash - I am crap with mascara and this coats them nicely and doesn't end up with two big clumps per eye. I am a redhead with the palest lashes too :)

Vesta1 · 03/04/2011 16:31

clinique naturally glossy for a natural look and armani eyes to kill for a bit more dramatic, yet refined

Boots No 7 Exceiptiongal Defininition I find good

Lash Extension by Max Factor is also good.

NoWayNoHow · 03/04/2011 16:39

Max Factor Masterpiece is the best mascara I've ever used, and I've used a few! It covers well, MASSIVELY extends my lashes but at the same time seems to keep them separate and natural looking (as opposed to clumping up and looking like i've overdone it!)

Every now and again, a new fangled mascara comes on the market and I think "Oooh, I'll try that, that might be better" and it never is...

Prinnie · 03/04/2011 16:45

Clinique lash power everytime for me - gives a really natural finish but is waterproof up to 40 degrees. Immaculate finish and never smudges/runs - I seriously don't know why any other mascara would get a look in!

Second YSL Everylong. I used to use Maybelline, then discovered this, and is a world apart (although also a small fortune!)

stylenotfashion · 03/04/2011 17:48

I second the Boots Extreme length, didn't get on with the Maybelline One by One at all.

I still like Maybelline Great lash - does what it says on the tin & cheap enough to try out.

Wyke129 · 03/04/2011 17:58

Thank you. I have written these down and will try them slowly over the next couple of years!

Just book marking :)

Ruby and Millie mascara is super. Extends without clumping in a spider legs style.

vez123 · 04/04/2011 12:26

Also bookmarking. Going back to work soon and in need to update my make-up...

MrsP2006 · 06/04/2011 15:08

Ok, I've just ordered the Clinique Lash Power mascara from Debenhams (as I've done my back in so can't get to the shops) I'll report back when I've used it for a few days.

thesnowmanleft · 06/04/2011 15:19

You can't get better than YSL...

But cheaper than that you could get Haute and Naughty by MAC, the thin brush is great for day wear
