too big for a bikini?

I'm sure there will have been threads on this before but gah, I don't care!

I am going for my first holiday with DP and some friends this summer. I have been living abroad for 9 months without DP and am so looking forward to being with him again.

About 2 years ago I put on 3 stone. I have lost 3 stone but realistically have maybe a stone to lose. I am 5'7 and 12 stone.

I am on day 16 of the shred too! 2 months til I go away.

When I was a size 8 I never wore a bikini because I thought I was too fat. I want a summer holiday in a bikini.
Will people be disgusted when looking at me? Will they flee the beach in shame?

Probably!

mosschops30 · 31/03/2011 14:36

Of course im joking, its great that you have done so well losing the weight, and ypu will reach your goal by the summer.
Wear your bikini with pride Smile

foundwanting · 31/03/2011 14:39

Of course not. Just go for it.

Most people (who take any notice at all) will be envious of your body confidence.

djinnie · 31/03/2011 14:42

They won't flee the beach.

They may look but most wont give it a second thought and you will not be the topic of conversation over cocktails.

Wear what you want with pride and sodemall! Have a lovely time x

Desperateforthinnerthighs · 31/03/2011 14:47

How about a tankini?? TBH you dont sound massive to me and I am sure a bikini/tankini will look fine!

mosschops30 · 31/03/2011 14:51

God no, not a tankini, the item of clothing designed to make even a skinny woman look 4 sizes bigger.
Show your new body off, be proud and get a fab bikini

noddyholder · 31/03/2011 14:51

No one is too big for a bikini. We are backward when it comes to this in the UK. It is like saying am I too big for knickers! It is beach wear and everyone in europe wears it no matter age size etc. What we really mean is will I look like a big fat lump as opposed to a supermodel which I think would answer yes for most people but wear it with pride and enjoy your holiday. A swimming costume is no more or less attractive on different sizes imo Apart from some stunning beach bodies every year most people look the same average ok and having a good time!

cybbo · 31/03/2011 14:57

Have you ever looked back on your holiday and said' OMG do you remember that woman wearing that bikini on the beach?' No? Well then no one will remember you or even pay you the slightest attention.

You will see SOME SIGHTS on the beach I can tell you and will wonder what you were worrying about

Leverkusen · 31/03/2011 15:22

Ha, thank you for all your kind words. Noddyholder I think you're right, here in Germany they all go to spas naked (like they do in most of europe I suppose, just not UK!) and no one seems embarrassed at all about showing a bit of flab! All I want to do is cover up some of the flab but bare the rest of it Grin

OF COURSE you can wear a bikini..............

sybilfaulty · 31/03/2011 15:27

GO to your local swimming pool, where you will see women of all shapes and sizxes in all manner of costumes and disarray. Most people focus on themselves and to be honest it is only the supermodel types who make me think anything now, and that's only because i am envious. Even very large people in quite ill advised swimwear pass me by.

Well done on the weightloss, by the way. Buy something which makes you feel fab and go for it.

nikki1978 · 31/03/2011 15:29

Yes of course you can wear one. Just make sure you get one that flatters your figure and is supportive and comfy. You can only get away with a string bikini if you have the body of Kate Moss.

wait TSC was it you who forgot to put them on in the swimming pool?
What kind of bikini do you think is the most flattering. I want one with basically a bra top, like a balconette style or whatever they're called, but for some reason can';t find even a D cup out here!

Like you have to worry about camel hoofage TSC Wink

Honestly Lever, you will look and feel great. I wore a bikini last year and was worried about it, but felt absolutely fine. More confident than when I was 15 years younger and 2 stone lighter.

Keep on shredding, it does make a massive difference to your shape.

RedwingWinter · 31/03/2011 16:58

Of course you can wear a bikini!

Figleaves have some in D cups too. I like this one www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product=Sophina-by-Figleavescom-Maldives-Underwired-Balconette-Bikini-Top&product_id=SBF-SS117176&size=34d&colour=Blues (comes with a choice of bottoms).
