Make up for being photographed in.

I am getting married in 6 weeks. Will be doing my own make up. What make up looks good in photos and also any tips for putting it on well so I look fabulous.

I'm sure I read on here not to wear moisturiser with SPF in as it will reflect back and make my face look lighter than it is.

Anything else I need to know?

you want matt finish as there will be lots of flashes!
my only advise would be to keep it natural, you want to look like you, not a doll on your wedding day :)
depends what you like, whether you use liquid or powder foundation, you need a good finishing powder, one that you can have with you for emergencies, try Lily Lolo.
Re foundations, if you like mineral powder, then Lily Lolo is the best, you can also buy samples to try beforehand. They eyeshadows are lovely too.
If you prefer cream foundation I can recommend Inika and the Organic Pharmacy (Organic Glam)
Inika do a lovely blusher with a puff applicator which is really nice. If you prefer a cream blusher try RMS Beauty, it's pricey, but so worth it!
I can only recommend natural products as I dont use anything with mineral oil, silicones or parabens in it. If this is not an issue for you, then Bobbi Brown and Nars are the best, in terms of "commercial" brands.
Good luck!
ps my friend had a makeover in Space NK, she then bought the items and did her make up herself on her wedding day, worked a treat!

As someone who make up brides as part of my living here's a few tips based on my experience -

The favorite bridal foundations are the same as the favorites that always come up on here, Chanel Vitalumiere or Pro Lumiere (if you want matte), or Diorskin Nude. Lancome Teint Idole if you want a good coverage. Apply with a brush (very small amount at a time rather than big wet brush!). No Touche Eclat or similar otherwise you will have reverse panda/skiing holiday look. Powder T-Zone & lids/under eye, even if you want dewy make up. You can leave the cheeks glowy if you want. If you use concealer, also use a brush to apply it so you don't have any solid round blobs of concealer!

Waterproof mascara is a must if you are of an emotional disposition! .... Same recommendation for yours and fiancee's mum.

You need to strike a balance between natural and 'there' - bear in mind that daylight/flash/ivory satin all have a tendency to wash you out so what you see in the mirror may well disappear in the photos.

Also find a balance between being fashionable and having the sort of make up that you will look back on your photos in 5-10 years time and think "Oooh, that's so dated".

If you have oily skin or are getting married at a time of year when it may be hot then MAC Blot Films are indispensible. They blot off any shine without disturbing make up and stop you getting cakey looking if you apply more powder.

Use a lip liner lightly over the whole lip to help your lipstick last longer. If you are the type of girl who likes bright lipstick I would recommend something like Lipcote to prevent your new husband's first photo of married life being one resembling a pantomime dame or Ronald McDonald.

If you have a veil or long hair which is going to be loose steer clear of lipgloss, it's not a good combo especially if there's a breeze.

I do so love it when people come on asking for advice and then, after people have taken time out to help, the OP doesn't bother to come back on the thread.

Havingkittens. I am not the OP but am grateful for the effort you put into posting! Thank you :)

It is annoying isn't it kittens. Great advice though. I'm sure there will be others who read it and use the suggestions.

Thank you both, very sweet of you to say so. Smile
