Is this a crime to fashion?

Just after some advice. I have a wedding coming up and found a dress today. However am stuck for shoes but have found a pair that are 'peep toe'. The problem is my legs are pale and not in great shape so I need to wear tights (40 denier I was thinking). My question is: are tights under peep toe heels ok or not? I'm crap with fashion.

Don't do it. It will look awful.

MoonGirl1981 · 30/03/2011 19:10

No, no, no, no, NO!!

Pale legs are fine and I'm sure they're in better shape than you think they are. Shave them, moisturise them and paint your toenails a nice colour.

tethersend · 30/03/2011 19:13

Opaque tights with peeptoes are fine.

This always kicks off Grin

You could get some nude sandal tights- they leave the toes bare.

MikeRotch · 30/03/2011 19:14

i dont mind it at all
is a vair modern look

daimbardiva · 30/03/2011 20:02

I think opaques with peep-toes is a good look - esp. black with nude shoes. Has to be opaques though - thin tights with peeptoes is a different matter altogether...

marriednotdead · 30/03/2011 20:41

Noooooooo!

Gillybobs · 30/03/2011 20:50

DOnt do it!

Highly recommend nude fishnets though, for some reason, they just work

madammecholet · 30/03/2011 20:51

you could wear tights and snip the toes out...Grin...that'd look reeeeally funny.

AintMissBeehiving · 30/03/2011 20:59

Opaques and peep toes are fine.

MillsAndDoom · 30/03/2011 21:00

Fake tan your legs?

maryjane71 · 30/03/2011 21:05

Agree will Mills, fake tan your legs. Never wear tights with open toes. Special open toe tights are hideous - sorry Grin

said · 30/03/2011 21:10

I'd just get different shoes

ShirleySharpeyes · 30/03/2011 21:21

Good ole John Lewis - they've thought of everything! peep toe tights

maryjane71 · 30/03/2011 21:58

There's an ad for M&S shoes in my magazine and the foot model is wearing flesh coloured tights with open toed shoes. The photo blatantly shows the seam over the toes. Urgh, reminds me of my friends mum who wore american tan tights with everything.

TaudrieTattoo · 30/03/2011 22:14

Opaques with peep toes fine.

See also flesh coloured fishnets.

BulletWithAName · 30/03/2011 22:18

Opaque or fishnets with peep toes look great.

MummyPenguin · 30/03/2011 22:19

Listen, has anyone seen the pictures of Fearne Cotton in some magazines wearing wedge strappy sandals with thick socks? However, on Fearne, things like that just don't look wrong somehow, do they? Hmm

minimammoth · 30/03/2011 22:24

Thick socks and peeptoes is a great look.

MoonGirl1981 · 30/03/2011 22:38

Those John Lewis tights look proper uncomfy.

Toe wedgie??

Could stain your legs with a tea bag like the did during the war.

Butterbur · 31/03/2011 10:03

Don't understand this nude fish nets thing. I've never seen anyone wearing them, nor even seen them in the shops. And how can it possibly be a goodlook to have little diamonds of purplish flesh showing through a network of beige strings?

I think nude fish nets are an MN invention.

Tisallafaff · 31/03/2011 10:07

I have nude fishnets.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 10:07

marks do them but no thong btwn toes

just stop under shoe strap

BulletWithAName · 31/03/2011 10:09

I was talking black fishnets with peep toes!

Spangers · 31/03/2011 10:25

I have nude fishnets! I only wear them to weddings though as I can't get away with black opaques in summer and so I don't normally wear skirts in the summer. I always wear tights with my peeptoe shoes, even the fishnet ones.

emsyj · 31/03/2011 12:19

Nude fishnets are widely available, but the best ones are Wolford Twenties. They make your legs look slimmer too - that's why showgirls wear them in Vegas.... I discovered them in Italy before they made their way over here. Much more practical for hot weather - tights in the heat = sweaty mess, but fishnets keep you lovely and cool.
