Oh I give up. I have the wrong feet for skinny jeans.

I am resigned to wearing bootlegs with (funky) trainers. I have horrible misshapen feet and can't wear ballerinas etc. In winter I can manage skinny jeans and boots, although I was late to catch onto the trend.

It annoys me that bootlegs are now considered frumpy or mumsy. They suit me! Skinnies with boots suit me. I'm tall and slim FGS. And my bloody feet ruin the show!

Basically all those threads on here recently about what to wear on your feet in spring boil down to "if bootlegs were acceptable we wouldn't need to worry".

Can you tell I'm having a mid-life fashion crisis?

I think Trinny and Susannah need to do What Not To Wear 2011. Their first book was my bible as I finally discovered what suited me (basically I am a bigger version of Trinny).

Rant over!

who says your feet are mishapen?

nethunsreject · 29/03/2011 19:54

Converse type things.

I have bunions and most shoes cripple me. Can't wear heels. Can't wear ballerinas. Can't wear anything except boots (winter), trainers (spring) and sensible sandals (summer).

Don't worry though, surgery is in my future!

Can you wear ankle boots?

naturelover · 29/03/2011 20:06

I guess ankle boots would be an option but they would have to be flat and very sensible to not cause me pain. I haven't looked to be honest. Might be worth considering - thanks.

Have you considered surgery? I had a really bad bunion on my left foot and was in the same predicament as you. I had it removed about 2 and a half years ago. I won't lie, it's still not perfect. I have pain in a different place now. But is is still an improvement. I am no longer embarrassed to show my feet. I am still restricted as to the shoes I can wear but no where near as badly. I can now wear low wedges, as long as they have a bit of give under the ball of the foot and are only about 2.5 inches in the heel but it's nice to have a couple of feminine shoes now rather than wearing trainers all the time, which isn't particularly good for your feet either - ESPECIALLY CONVERSE! The podiatrist tells me every time I go that Converse and ballet flats are both terrible for your feet as they give no support at all. I still wear Converse a lot but only with my orthotics inside them (that makes me feel like and old lady, but at least I'm a comfortable one!). I can also wear some sandals which I couldn't even consider before because they cut across just the wrong part of my bunion, which as I'm sure you know is quite excruciating.

With regards to the jeans dilemma, what about straight leg jeans like Levi's 627s. They are a compromise between skinnies and boot legs.
