Navy and coral for a bedroom ?

We are about to redecorate DD1's room - she is 13 - and she says she wants a navy and white colour scheme with coral as an accent colour. Will this work?
It isn't a big room so I thought painting one wall navy and three white might be the way to go. The navy wall will have the window in it, so I thought perhaps a plain coral blind might look nice. The wardrobe is a battered wooden one, and I thought perhaps paint it navy and then add a white desk and white bedside table. I think the only thing there will be space for after all that is a chair.
Anyone seen any coral accessories - lamps, bedding etc that might work with this scheme. Or have anything better to suggest? I have four more bedrooms to redecorate on a fairly tight budget, so economy is essential!

Personally I would keep all the walls white with navy and coral accents. IMHO a navy wall would look horrible.

Designers Guild do fab cushions/bed linens/general bedroomy stuff in hundreds of colour ways and fab prints.

If you want to use navy, you need lots of white to balance it out - and then a bright/warm colour to add some warmth; coral wouldn't be my choice, but I think it would work.

Have a look at some of these blue rooms for inspiration:

What sort of house do you have btw? Think a navy wall will work best if you've got high ceilings and lots of natural light.

Sorry - one more link, another navy wall:

Will stop now.

Thanks for those links, there are some really good ideas there. I'll show DD. She was keen on having all navy walls, I talked her round to just one! Will have a look at Designer's Guild for bedlinen.

Would she go for a purple as a highlight colour? Probably easier to find accessories in that, and would work well as an accent with the blue and plenty of white?

My DS has navy walls - will seek out the actual colour for you because I must have spent a small fortune on tester pots. His room isn't huge either and we used red as an accent colour with white furniture and a beige carpet.

TBH if you get the shade of navy right, it makes the room look very warm and much bigger. The shade we used had a real depth to it and pushes the walls away, iyswim.

I once saw someone's kitchen which had white walls and a navy ceiling - it looked fab. And orange highlights rather than coral. I can't quite imagine navy and coral - sounds vile! - but you never know. Star by throwing a coral cushion in there and see how it looks.

The navy was what she has her heart set on - she actually said orange as the accent colour and I suggested coral instead as I thought orange was perhaps too much. But from LadyWord's comments on here, perhaps I was wrong! Maybe we need to go back to her original choice of orange or as MMC suggests purple or red.
Tulpe, I would love to know what colour you used. I was looking at Ballgown from the Crown period colours range. I thought white furniture too, apart from the wardrobe.
Bambi - those links don't work for me unfortunately.

Can't find colour online so will check in the garage in the morning for you!

Agree that orange would make a great accent colour, as would magenta.

I second the navy ceiling recommendation. I had one in the living room of the house when I first moved in and when I painted it over Blush I realised it had been perfect for the light as it was. I like the idea of purple or red for the walls though not for the ceiling.

How about a papaya colour instead of coral (very 80s) or orange (very Hup Holland)

If you have a Homesense or TK Maxx nearby they can be great for picking up linen, lamps, mirrors, pictures etc at good prices.
