I have shoulder length naturally frizz prone curly hair. It's not nice curly hair with big curls but small, tight curls that frizz. Anyway I generally ghd my hair every day and wear it straight. I'm off to the canaries in May for 2 weeks and do not intend on spending one minute of my holiday straightening my hair. I just wondered if any other curlies out there know of any product which would tame my curls and keep them bouncy and frizz free? I've tried serums, boots curl creme etc with little success but have heard that Aveda Be Curly is a good product. With other products my hair starts off okay but tends to get bigger and wider as the day goes on and i end up looking like i've had a very dodgy 80's perm! thanks!

I share your curly woes! I too ghd every day as I find this is the quickest option as my hair stays nice and neat all day then and doesn't mutate into a curly disaster as the days goes on!

We went to Lanzarote last summer and are going back in August and I am on a mission to embrace my natural hair while there as it was just too hot and humid to go through the daily straightening ordeal I had last year!

I did a bit of googling and watched some you tube videos and am having a practice right now as am too sick with tonsillitis to go out anyway for the last few days! And, it has not worked out to bad at all...

I have just washed as normal, put umberto giani curl creme (just bought a travel size tube to try and you need only a tiny bit - depends on your hair type tho - I'm fine and can get greasy looking if put too much).

After applying, twist into riglets round your fingers (quite thick chunky ones).

Then leave to dry. On holiday that won't take long but I did have to gently waft hairdryer today after an hour to hurry it up.

Then loosely shake curls out with your fingers.

I have a fringe and find it looks better on me if I still straighten that out a bit and also my top layer - it just makes me look more groomed and is worth the minute it takes.

I bought some dinky little mini babyliss straighteners from amazon for £10 just for this purpose on holiday and they are fab.

I am going to get moisture adding shampoo & conditioner for my hols and read that the trick is to not over work your hair, the more you fuss it about the more the frizz potential.

Will be v interested in others tips too as it's a long time since I went curly!

Thank you for the tip. I will give anything a try. I've also got a fringe and tend to wear that straight, a curly fringe definately does me no favours! I always end up using a hairdryer though as rarely seem to have the time to dry naturally. How was your hair after sleeping on it overnight? Mine is always a frizzy tangled mess in the mornings. A lot of curly haired people say they just spritz with water and scrunch but that never seems to work for me. I want to look more natural while on holiday but not a complete mess!

Hmmm, I'm a daily washer anyway as tend to get greasy roots but think it would have been a mess too if I left it!

If your hair can normally go more than one day then maybe you could just spritz and do the ringlet thing again to tame it for a 2nd day.

Ooh and it was trevor sorbie curl creme - just looked.

Hi I use This shampoo and Conditioner

Then this creme you only need a little bit and the bottle lasts nearly 2 months.

I wash my hair every other day (rinsing through on alternative days), slightly towel dry then put the creme through.
I never brush my hair and after 30 years of searching this has saved me from hair disater.

Have a great holiday Envy

I always wear my hair up in bed and I can get away without having to do a full wash style etc I find I have to use a lot of water, not enough and its a frizzy mess.

Have you thought about this???
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_hair_straightening

Lots of local salons are introducing it. Seriously worth it from people I know that have had it done. (approx 50-100 pounds depending on hair length)
