Levi's Curve ID advice - I wear a 12/14 in Topshop but according to Levi's website I'm too fat for their biggest size?

After reading/hearing loads of rave reviews about these jeans I had a look on the Levi's website as I would like a nice new pair for the summer.

I have a wardrobe full of Topshop size 12 jeans which are still a bit too tight post-baby but the Topshop size 14 skinnies I bought before xmas need a belt and no longer look like skinnies.

I measured myself in cm according to their instructions and am a slight curve Hmm - I am a short fat hourglass (40-30-40 two weeks ago when I last checked) and jeans always gape so wtf? I am only 5'2" and short bodied, where they tell you to do the first measurement is WAY lower than my jeans sit, and I only wear hipsters anyway due to my shortness.

Their size chart would suggest that even a 34 would be pushing it :(, I always thought that 34 = size 16, but even if their sizes haven't changed since the 50s I should fit their 16 since I AM an oldschool 16 (wore a size 16 1968 dress only last week).

Any thoughts? I'm not going into the Levis shop to investigate further if I'm too fat for all their jeans.

I would just go in and try them on. It's the only way you'll know if they fit you! Or try them in John Lewis.

I have a 30-32" waist (varies) and 40" hips and Levi's (although haven't tried the Curve ones) fit me fine. Go and try them. If the Curve id ones don't fit then they have other styles which might suit you.

Buddhastic · 25/03/2011 16:11

I bought them and find they stretch to the point of them hanging off me by the end of the day

ZZMum · 25/03/2011 16:24

I am a 14 in jeans and the curve range really suits me as I have size 10 waist and they are cut ot fit my .. curves!

Gingefringe · 25/03/2011 16:45

Im a 12/14 (well more of a 14 these days) and the 30 fit me fine. I got 30S in the skinnies from Next Directory and they fit like a glove. So pleased with them even though they were expensive. I'm saving up for the bootlegs now.

dexter73 · 25/03/2011 16:54

I'm going to try some tomorrow!

Can some one explain Curve id.
Do you buy them 'off hte shelf' or are you measured and give a selection that will suit you best? Confused

mermaidspurse · 25/03/2011 17:48

I normally seem to be more suited to a 14 but am in the demi curve 30 and now think that I could probably have gotten the next size down cos they do seem to give a fair amount.
upahill they are off the shelf but have different cuts, I think the demi curve has a slightly higher rise so no more builders bum or muffin top for me. Very flattering and I love them even though it took 5 washes for the colour to stop rubbing off.

alarkaspree · 25/03/2011 17:53

They don't have any good styles in slight curve anyway.

Gottakeepchanging · 25/03/2011 17:58

I have some fab levies bought in the USA. I gained 2 stone post bop and they still fitted. Amazing,y flattering with loads of stretch. They would be a uk 12-14- not at home but will check and post when I am.

gregssausageroll · 25/03/2011 19:41

34 inch waist is a 16!

lackaDaisy · 25/03/2011 20:33

The first measurement should be taken at your natural waist. This is really high...quite close to your bust line actually. When I was measured for it, the assistant made me twist side to side and bend to the side a few times so she could locate my "natural waist" (either that or she enjoyed making me do silly things Grin)

I am a size 12 in Topshop and am a 30 in Levi's CurveID, and a 32 in 7FAM. Hmm

Don't measure yourself, go and try it out. It's the only way you can tell if they really fit you.

partickwhistle · 25/03/2011 22:50

Hmm the video tells you to measure 4in below your waist, which is practically my arse, hence the "slight curve" result I think. The descriptive fit guide led me to believe I am a demi or most likely bold curve, so I think my measuring may have been at fault.

We don't have John Lewis here, I'll have to brave the actual Levi's shop if I want to try them on in real life, but if people are saying they are 12/14 and fit in a 30 I should be able to get them on even if I don't like them.

I went to Levis today to try these. She measured me with a bit of string (??!) and then told me which shape I should get. I tried loads on in different styles and sizes. They all come up differently in the different styles so you have to try them on. Also I needed a 32" leg in some and a 34" in others.
I ended up getting the straight leg in a demi curve even though I was measured as a bold curve. They fit really well and are very flattering, but then I would expect that for £85!!
