Can any of you help me. A) where is my lost birkenstock and as b) i'm unlikely to find it should i replace like for like or go for a flitflop, or whatever they're called.

Please don't advise me to get a pretty shoe - i have rubbish feet that need support. No, i have beautiful feet but if the sole is too thin or the shoe too tight i get horrible pains in my feet so i need practical.

TIA

That's true. I had a nice white pair from Accessorise and they looked grubby in 5 minutes. That's why I'm doing the Barefoot sandals, no sole, no grubbiness Grin

BarefootShirl · 07/04/2011 23:27

I have worn my barefoot sandals quite a few times - usually to disguise the fact that I'm barefoot at a company "do" and absolutely love them. People don't generally look twice and just assume they are flat sandals but I still get the comfort of being barefoot Smile.

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 10:34

EXACTLY. I have even been known to wear mine in bed Grin In the winter I wear them with high heeled shoes or sandals and then later when my feet are killing me I kick off the shoes and dance around in my barefeet. Great for company do's and weddings... Where do you get yours Barefootshirl?

I get mine here. The great thing about them is they have a chain and clasp rather than just elastic so they are a perfect fit, there isn't any ugly gaps and they are much stonger than the elasticy ones and you can get them immediately rather than having to wait for them to be made.

I love some of the snazzy ones from Beach bride in the US but they take weeks to arrive and cost a fortune in shipping...

Birkies are the way the truth and the light.
You know they make sense.

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 11:01

I know but they are so ugly. I own over 200 pairs of shoes (let alone the barefoot sandals) and I can not bring myself to try Birkies or Crocs. Am I really missing something?

nickschick · 08/04/2011 11:04

The dogs chewed it up.

Birks £19.99 in Tj hughes at mo.

Thats your probs solved now mine- my big toe has a huge blister thats gone hard between the toes cos of thongy type flip flop -do I pick of the skin or leave it to cushion further friction?

BarefootShirl · 08/04/2011 11:58

Iloveshoes - I got mine from swaptopshoes.com - very pretty and well made.

Mostly I don't wear shoes anyway but there are some occasions when you can't just go obviously barefoot and then the "sandals" are ideal! I have also had several compliments about them even when people have realised what they are.

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 12:14

Thanks. Just had a quick look. LOVE the chain mail ones! and those lacey ankle corsets... Fab!

ceebeegeebies · 08/04/2011 12:17

I bought a pair of Fitflops (brown suede ones) last year - agree that they did nothing for my bum and thighs but they were very comfy. However, I am not sure they are the nicest-looking footwear so have swopped them for something a bit prettier this year Smile Will see if I can find a link.

ceebeegeebies · 08/04/2011 12:20

here and here

They are very comfortable and quite supportive as the sole is padded.

sunshineatlast · 08/04/2011 14:38

Birkies are nowhere near as fugly as crocs.
The one strappers are much nicer than fitflops imo.

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 15:31

I MIGHT be persuaded to go as far as these pink birkies They are almost acceptable Smile

JillyWillyPops · 08/04/2011 15:40

Does anyone else find that their feet trump when wearing birkies? I have avoided them due to this!! I've had cheaper versions and always end up Blush when wearing them.

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 16:03

Dear lord. ANOTHER reason not to buy them! Shock

nickschick · 08/04/2011 16:54

I do not have trumpy feet Angry.

However im v Angry that now not only are my birkies in question so are my linen trousers and my lurrrvely pink per una linen jacket.

Im like some farkin fashion misfot on 'ere Sad.

sunshineatlast · 08/04/2011 17:32

omg at farty feet! my feet NEVER do that.

In fact because the insole is suede, if you brush it reg with a metal suede brush your feet never slip around unlike pretty much every other sandal I possess.

lol at nickschick. step away from those linen trousers!

sunshineatlast · 08/04/2011 17:34

lol ! Blush
I meant.. Grin
forgot where I was for a moment there..
