My lips are showing my age [angry]

They've always been thin and kind of mean-looking Sad but now they seem to be practically bloodless and almost disappear into my face! I'm 38 and they also look sadly cats-bummy, despite the fact I've never smoked (or maybe it's just cos I'm so dreadfully judgey Wink!

Anything I can do apart from kind of nude lipgloss? I'm not really a makeup person at all and just look daft with most lipstick colours (I think; maybe I'm just not used to it).

I did try a "miracle lip-plumper" or some such a while back and while it gave a nice tingle, it was absolutely pants in the lips department!!

Any ideas?

I feel your pain!

I have just started using a special lip cream from No 7 as I am getting a smoker's lip line and I don't even flipping smoke! Angry

I have discovered a lip gloss by No 7 ( thank God for those handy vouchers eh? Wink) which has more staying power than a normal gloss but not quite a lipstick. It seems to make my lips fractionally fuller. The colour I use is 'Glaze' which is a big pinker than plain old nude gloss.

fedupandfifty · 23/03/2011 13:24

have you thought about getting them tattoo'ed on ?

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 14:23

Oh god NO!!!! Shock

Get a soft rose brown nude coloured lip liner and line and fill your lips with the colour. Wear your normal lippy over the top. Makes a massive difference

I too have serious smokers lips but have never smokedSad. I've never tried lip liner before so I'll give it ago.

TattyDevine · 23/03/2011 19:31

Oh ffs if you aren't generally vain and have £2k spare and dont think you will become an addict, just get the implant. Then that lip that has always pissed you off wont.

^I am really pro-intervention tonight - not sure why - I think I am just sick of seeing people stressed over stuff that can be fixed - life is too short. Disclaimer - have minimal stuff done to myself^

£££? Lets set up a charitible foundation. I can be chair.

TattyDevine · 23/03/2011 19:33

By the way I am all for lip liner or gloss fixing it if it can. I'm just sick of people wasting ££££ on stupid products when there is something that can work, and does, but is seen as vain, when. somehow, double the amount of ~£££ of products is not...go figure... Grin

Havingkittens · 23/03/2011 19:48

Dior do a product called Lip Glow Balm which is a balm which reacts with the PH of your skin/lips to enhance natural colour. It's really nice and definitely works. It restores your lips to the colour they should be basically, without being an actual lipstick or gloss as such. It's not cheap - around £20 but it does work and is really flattering as it goes the right shade of pink for the individual that's wearing it rather than it being a specific shade. If you put a little on your cheeks with your finger tips it also brings out a nice natural flush.

cyb · 24/03/2011 06:43

Tatty I agree with you and am planning a couple of 'interventions' myself

valiumredhead · 24/03/2011 07:53

Lesley Ash springs to mind and THAT'S what puts me off not the money tbh. Eeek!

sue52 · 24/03/2011 08:58

CybWhat lipliner is she using in your link? It's a MAC product but I can't quite make out which shade it is. (not very good with accents)

Havingkittens · 24/03/2011 09:36

The lipliner she's using is Soar (not Sore!). If you want something softer, try Dervish which is a lip coloured pink. Probably preferable if you're not really a lipstick person.

cabbageroses · 24/03/2011 09:40

Lesley Ash had hers done using a permanent collagen- that is rarely used now.

There are other products such as Restylane lite which are more subtle and act as a moisturiser.

Expect to pay about £300 and it lasts around 6 months.

catladymanquee · 24/03/2011 10:33

Fillers last longer than six months. They tell you six months but that seems to be a minimum. Don't do anything permanent first go -- you might not like it as much as you think you will. Also, if you do get them done, don't let them put filler in the very outer corners. That is what causes trout pout (IMO anyway). The other thing is that you will possibly need some filler around your mouth as well. Lush lips will look out of place in a slightly caved-in lower face. (Not saying yours is, but mine is.)

Havingkittens Thanks.
