School run summer shoes?

I need a comfortable pair of shoes to replace my pretty clunky Hush Puppies. I'd like something that I can wear without socks, that you could wear for an hour or two's walking with no discomfort, and that stays on your foot without contorting your toes, e.g. something with a back. Any ideas?

No birkies then?

Can you wear wedges?

Espadrilles are everywhere this season too.

I'm not great in heels but the extra height would be nice as I'm on the short side. I'd considered Birkenstocks but they look like they would fall off my feet. Do they stay on if you run after your toddler on their scooter?

For the most part, yes.

I live in mine.

(I don't work for them btw. It's a coincidence I namechanged today to this.^^Grin)

Ive just bought these and I love them, could walk for miles in them!

I have these from last year. Quite versatile and not too ugly. Lots of colour options too.

Crocs are doing a great line of shoes and I hated the Caymen type with the Swiss cheese look. I have several pairs of the more fitted styles such as Olivia and the Mary Jane ALice pumps and they are wonderfully comfortable,a bit quirky and they stay on your feet. I have walked for miles in these and never had a blister. They last ages too. I also give Birkenstocks my vote. If you get ones that are styled with a strap higher on the foot they stay on.

I like the idea of crocs, there are just so many shoe types now, I don't know which I'd go for. Is there anywhere that stocks the different types so you don't have to guess and buy through the crocs website?

I have bought mine from Jellyegg and Amazon and returns are never a problem. They tend to sell them cheaper than the CRocs website too. Ebay might be worth a browse. They are very light on the feet too,so much so that getting back into other shoes is an effort!
