I like this, but it depends on whether you suit blue/this shape of dress.

Too spenny though?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 21/03/2011 23:30

Or how about...?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 21/03/2011 23:32

Sorry this.

I would up your budget to about 60-100 if you could and buy a second hand Issa dress on eBay. It's silk jersey, which hangs beautifully and has stretch so fit not as crucial as with a non-stretch material. You could safely get a 12 (although their 10s are generous) and if you ask where it hits (knee length is the most flattering on most peeople)

Not all of them look like the Kate Middleton dress. They're great for weddings, summery prints and flattering on most people.

If you spent too much then you can resell it. DVF wraps in silk jersey another good option on eBay and easy to resell.

May not be to your taste but I thought I'd suggest it.

otch- i cant up my budget, i also have to buy dresses for 2 little girls, and trousers, shirts and shoes for the 2 boys.

ouch! Poor you, sorry. I just thought if you could put that lay it off for a few weeks you could buy and resell quickly. Then you'd have spent very little. Issa will resell for as much as you buy, in some cases more.

CherryMonster · 22/03/2011 09:12

unfortunatly i cant do that. my girls dresses are £40 each (having them made as cant find anything i like) ds1 will need mens clothing, and new shoes. ds2 should get away with a shirt and trousers and can wear his school shoes. thankfully the wedding isnt for a couple of months yet, but i am making the cake so i have lots to think about. i am nearly 30 by the way, just in case that makes a difference with what style of dress i should wear.

So what styles do you like/are you prepared to wear? Would you feel comfortable in something short or strapless, or would you prefer something more demure?

Are you busty, apple/pear-shaped?

Do you like tailored, classic styles or do you prefer trendy/dramatic/natural/romantic?

At your age, height and size I'd say you could happily get away with showing legs or shoulders, but maybe you could give an indication of what you think about those already linked to as a starting point?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 22/03/2011 09:24

Btw, I think the first Warehouse one otchay linked to is lovely (unless you have big boobs!)

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/03/2011 09:47

I vote for that New Look floral shift WWWY linked to! May have to get it myself.

CherryMonster · 22/03/2011 10:01

ok, bust is 34d so not huge. am slim, hips not much wider than rest of me. sort is fine, not so good with strapless as i get worried its falling down. style wise i have no idea what suits me, i dont wear dresses much, more skirts.

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 22/03/2011 10:14

What's your hair like? Do you keep it short and neat, or is it more of an angular, dramatic cut? Or is it a medium-length bob - again, neat and straight/angular/fluffy? Same question if it's long.

Do you wear tailored pencil-style skirts or would they be softer, maybe ruched or pleated? Natural, textured materials like denim and cord, more delicate cottons, or are you drawn to silks/satins?

(You still haven't said what you think about the other dresses btw).

its halfway down my back, and dead straight at the moment as its just been straightened. skirts usually are long and flowy or denim mini's. i love the first dress that was linked to, but i cant afford that. i also like the 3rd one, first in the list of 4.
