How do I get hair dye stains off my forehead?!

vanimal · 20/03/2011 14:29

I have dyed my hair this morning, for an important client meeting tomorrow.

But I now have a few dark stain spots on my forehead and my arms - eeek!

Any top tips on how to get rid of these so I don't look like an arse tomorrow?

baby wipes ?

make up remover ?

even permanent hair dye should come off if you scrub hard enough Grin

why didn't you remove the drips immediately ?

thumbwitch · 20/03/2011 14:31

is it permanent dye or semi-permanent? if the latter, try rubbing shampoo into your forehead and then rinsing off. Works for me.

If it's permanent, I don't know, sorry.

I use nail varnish remover but my mom always gasps horrified at me and says it will ruin my skin!

MisSalLaneous · 20/03/2011 14:32

In order of skin damage limitation:

  • Milk on cotton wool
  • Baby wipes
  • Nail polish remover

carpet cleaner Grin

Oh, and I've heard cigarette ash mixed with lemon juice and shampoo works too. Think I'd rather go to work with a stained forehead though.

MrsSeanBean · 20/03/2011 14:55

heavy duty exfoliator?

purepurple · 20/03/2011 15:03

try hair spray on a pad of cotton wool
or try to rub it with shampoo as you wash your hair
I did my hair yesterday (red) and now wonders if I have red marks on my neck and back of my ears and would DH tell me if I did?

Next time rub vaseline on your forehead, ears and neck before you do it...

I've used bleach before (works but isn't that healthy) but a good face pack/mud mask will work too. Other than that you might have to just scrub hard.

haggis01 · 20/03/2011 15:57

Rub oil or vaseline in leave and then rub off. Usually works.

sue52 · 20/03/2011 16:00

Neat vodka works for me.

HalfTermHero · 20/03/2011 16:02

I rub like fuck with wet wipes but best to do it whilst dye is freshly on. It will probably still come off but will need a really good scrub. Good luck!

MadameCastafiore · 20/03/2011 16:02

A hairdresser will tell you to rub ash on it and it will come off - not sure if they mean fag ash or ash from the fire grate but it does work - I used fag ash as didn;t live in a house with a fire then and it did work! Bit smelly had to wash hair again afetrwards!

PlumSykes · 20/03/2011 18:27

Old-style blue Clearasil works a treat, as does Domestos.

LynetteScavo · 20/03/2011 18:30

fag ash.

I actually used to frequent (and pay good money to) a hairdresser who used to use fag ash from the ashtrays in the back room of the salon to remove the stains from my face.

bosch · 20/03/2011 18:33

my hairdresser mentioned that washing up liquid works well last time she dyed my hair (but didn't leave me with a tide mark to try it on, for once...)

Needanewname · 20/03/2011 18:33

Fraid they're right its cigarette ash, just mixed with water is fine, this is what we did at the salon where I worked, though we never told the clients - I hated it!

practicallyimperfect · 20/03/2011 22:14

I always use nail varnish remove.

scotsgirl23 · 20/03/2011 22:34

Baby wipes or neat vodka
