Casual dress that can be worn with big boobs!

it is driving me nuts!
I have searched the web for hours and already sent back two dresses that made me look like Hattie jakes.

I have several boring one-colour wrap type dresses. Am I asking too much to want something a bit less dull for when I'm not at work?

(size 12 bottom, 32h top, blonde, 5ft5)

Please :)

Bravissimo:
cute spots
stripey
Or other brands:
navy belted
poppies
blue floral

Have you had a look at Bravissimo stuff (apparently now called Pepperberry)? Some of their dresses look okay to me.

withagoat · 20/03/2011 13:50

you want teh school run dress thread

tethersend · 20/03/2011 13:52

What sort of dress are you after?

How's this?

SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 14:01

Thanks ladies.
I've loitered on the school run thread but not seen anything I thought would work.
I bought a load of bravissimo stuff a couple if years ago and the quality/cut was consistently awful. Anyone know if it has improved?

Am quit liking the first two debenhams ones...

I don't want a plain colour. I want a pattern :)

I agree that the Bravissimo clothes are awful quality and dont wash well at all so sensible to steer clear.

Dont have any suggestions for dresses I'm sorry - I have the same problems with big boobs and tend to wear tops and bottoms as dresses make me look very matronly.
Watching this thread with interest

MrsSeanBean · 20/03/2011 15:27

Does [[http://www.frenchconnection.com/product/Woman+Collections+Dresses/71CM5/Talias+Tale+Dress.htm this]='] look any good?

MrsSeanBean · 20/03/2011 15:28

Oh sh1t sorry - here

SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 15:47

I have that fc dress:)
In a slightly different fabric. It is ok but has gone slightly out if shape with washing.

OP posts:
SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 19:09

Ok. I give up.

Anything that I find that is a good shape is too short.

I might have to visit a real shop. Or maybe that will just be more depressing...

Bravissimo is a lot better now, I agree that their early designs were a bit funny shaped, but I have gotten some lovely dresses from them recently. Work dresses though, so can't recommend any casual ones.
I've also found that M&S dresses are more generous top-wise, have you checked them out?

DoubleDegreeStudent · 20/03/2011 19:39

I got a nice purple dress from GAP yesterday in the sale. I'm in Paris, but GAP is GAP everywhere...? Don't normally have much success with them but this I like.

I've had success with Bravissimo and Monsoon too, but normally only with about one thing for every ten tried on...

LaurieFairyCake · 20/03/2011 19:40

I'm a 36j and I buy the majority of my dresses from boden. They fit me really well though they need a bit of shortening on me as I'm only 5ft.

SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 20:25

Really laurie?

I buy skirts and trousers there but have had no luck with tops or dresses.

Links?

SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 20:33

Can't see much on the gap site.

Maybe I should give bravissimo another try...

scotsgirl23 · 20/03/2011 20:38

I didn't like early bravissimo clothes either but their more recent stuff seems to be considerably better. I have a couple of their dresses which are very nice and some shirts (ditto)

Their early stuff tended to be a little tight at the bottom half I found and they seem to have eased up on this considerably!

I have a few casual French Connection dresses too which seem to accommodate my chest(30hh/j so virtually same as you) - I've just bought their wonder wings one which is quite a similar shape to your other one

SarkyLady · 20/03/2011 20:49

Thanks.
The only bravissimo one I like (a bit) is the denim one.

Like the fc one. Bit bolder than my usual choices though...

SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 11:19

So I'm now considering:

FC already linked by scotsgirl

more fc

more fc (but not a dress)

MrsSeanBean · 21/03/2011 12:12

Don't know if you've looked at / discounted this already, but I have big boobs (32E) and am considering it.

My thinking is that leaving it unbuttoned quite low (with vest underneath obv) could work.

SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 12:19

I have looked at that. (And every other dress in the known universe Grin

My worry was that it would hang down from my boobs to the low waist and look like I had a pillow stuffed down there. But maybe you're right, if I got it in the size that is right for my bottom half...

Bravissimo also have a denim dress that looks more promising.

thanks.

I love Bravissimo. I can't fault it - oh, apart from one shirt that was too short.

I only discovered them this year but they're my go-to brand now if I want to look fitted and not like a sack.

For me personally, that whole "unbutton abit plus vest" is akin to a big neon sign saying "Jugs don't fit in normal dress".

Ick.

Hope you find your thang tho :)

scotsgirl23 · 21/03/2011 19:27

If you're a bravissimo clothes fan you might want to check online and see if they have opened a pepperberry store near you - they've just opened one in Edinburgh last week which has every single item of clothes from the website. We used to have a small selection in bravissimo, but they've split them now.

A whole shop full of boob fitting clothes was a novelty!

SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 21:53

Thanks :)

Btw which of the London Bravissimo branches is best for clothes? Or are they all pretty good?

I've been slagging off bravissimo for years but looks like it is worth giving them another chance :)
