Hollister or A&F

We live abroad and my kids got slagged off last Summer for wearing New Look stuff whilst in Scotland. I was out shopping with my oldest one day and passed Hollister and she told me that's what the girls who had been teasing them were wearing. I admit to bowing to peer pressure and bought her a couple of t-shirts which her sis will wear this year but is Hollister still cool for young teens? Blush

My teens wouldn't be seen dead in it. They think it is for sheep with more money than sense tbh. Sorry!

I think you'd do much better working on your teens, so that they care less what others think about them - rather than buying things from Hollister. Drama club, art classes etc can do wonders for self-esteem and also help them to develop a more personal sense of style.

My would and DD is the least sheep like teen you could find. She lives in check shirts.your children sound very judgemental buddhstic

My dd likes Hollister and she is 14.

My children were happy in New Look so don't get where that comment came from Bruffin! I bought my eldest a couple of things BECAUSE I was pissed off at the comments. I should have said the reason I was mainly asking was that I have found Hollister over here for 70 percent off. I was asking for comments on Hollister etc not comments on parenting hence my posting on Style and Beauty not on one of the other topics!

I am really sorry buddhastic I should have said BelligertGhoul. i wa sreading on my phone and got the wrong name. I would not be happy about my dc's making comments about children being sheep because of what they wear

Buddhastic · 20/03/2011 12:55

I didn't like the comments either which is why I reacted to them. My kids were cool about it but I guess there was too much info for Style and Beauty and I have learnt my lesson. I should have asked Hollister cool or not Smile

The thing is, you will always get a spread of opinion about whether something is cool or not.

I'm sorry if I sounded judgemental and you are right - I did. My children are actually very lovely - much nicer than me!

I just get really, really cross when children feel that they HAVE to have a certain something or it's the end of the world - so parents feel they HAVE to buy it.

Children should grow up to feel happy enough in themselves that it really doesn't matter if their shirt is from Hollister or New Look or the charity shop - so long as they like it for what it looks like, rather than where it comes from!

Round here (Midlands) the teens seem to be in Hollister, Abercrombie, Superdry

catinthehat2 · 20/03/2011 16:45
