GHD Stylers or other?

Hi all,

My GHD's have broken and I need to buy another pair. i was wondering if any of you has found a different brand that makes them just as good but a bit cheaper or they still are the only ones that are so brilliant?

I have a lot of thick hair and have tried other ones before, only happy with GHD, but that was some 4 years ago.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Have you tried contacting GHD to find out how much they would cost to repair?

Kione · 19/03/2011 11:47

My friend had the same problem with the cord and they charged her £30, also it takes a while to send them, get them back... thats why I thought I could buy another pair (I use them every day) and probably send the other ones to repair too.

No, I would just stick with GHD

Ok, unless there are more replies overnight, will buy another pair tomorrow.

My niece is a hairdresser and she recommends Cloud nine straighteners if thats any help.

Will go and check the price, but, do they sell them in Boots? not a great choice of shops around...

Mmm as they are even more expensive I rather stick to GHD's that I know work for me, I was looking for slightly cheaper ones, but ta! :)

Except the cable breaks that seems to be a common problem [hmmm]

I have FHI's (well 3 pairs actually Blush ) and I've found them to be as good as Ghd's. My hairdresser recommended them as they found ghd's to be unreliable.

cookielove · 22/03/2011 08:41

I have ghds i also have really thick hair with a slight wave to it, and ghds is all that works well in my hair. i've had mine for 6plus years and had no problems.

GHDs all the way for me - first pair broke (about 6 years ago), but replacement pair still going strong - and in daily use by me and dsd!

Well, couldn't find any GHDs so bought some Nick Clarke, the boy in the shop said I could return them if I wasn't happy. The girl said they weren't as good as GHDs (!) I told her she I don't think she was supposed to say that since they don't stock them (half joking) and that they where confusing me, the boy was saying they where better. Nevermind. The thing is, in the booklet it says because they get so hot, "salon use temperature", not to used them everyday Confused is this the same with the GHDs??? Don't remember reading anything of the sort.

I am very frustrated, they are not bloody 20 quid :(

There are also loads of websites that claim they repair GHDs. Has anyone used them?

REALLY confused!!!

Call GHD direct and they'll give you an address to send your broken set back to. They'll have a look at them then call you. Mine were years out of warranty but (I thought I would chance it!!)they gave me the option of buying a new set for £80, (and a week or so to think about it) so I did, and money very well spent in my opinion Grin
Have still got my corioliss (£120!!) but not a patch on the GHD's.
Love my GHD's
HTH x

Thanks, I am going to do that, I returned the Nicky Clakes today as I saw they where £40 in Amazon! I thought maybe I'll have a hair cut now (needed) that dosen't require straightening every day and have the GHDs repaired.

For the record the Nicky Clarkes where not as good either.
